“What are you going to do about the approximately 17 million children with preexisting conditions who can no longer be denied health insurance coverage,” Pascrell asked his Republican colleagues. “We want to go back and want to say you are no longer covered any longer. Are you going to tell the parents of those kids?”

This is why I think it will never be repealed. This plays on people’s emotions. None of us wants a kid to be sick.

Imagine if your a single mom of two struggling to make ends meet. Your kid gets sick. You’re gonna do what you have to for that kid. Some politician comes along and says honey, we’ll take care of you and your kids if you’ll support us.

Another politician comes along and says, honey, you made some bad choices. You need to assume responsibility for your actions. Get another job to help pay for your family.

Which argument wins in the court of public opinion?

You can’t beat Santa Clause. The single mom could care less who is paying for it. All she’s worried about is her kids get to a doctor.

That’s why once an “entitlement” is on the books, it never goes away. It only grows.

Made bad choices?? What if it wasn’t HER fault? What if she was married and her husband was killed or died suddenly through no fault of his own? Is THAT a “poor life choice”????

So this woman’s supposed to work two jobs?

My oldest daughter must be an exception. She is a single parent; gets no child support from her ex-husband, her son has a life threatening illness that costs her a lot in co-pays. She has never been on government assistance and at times has had two jobs. It would have been much easier for her to go on assistance and stay there- but not what she chose to do.
