Years ago, someone said that according to the laws of aerodynamics, bumblebees cannot fly. But the bumblebees, not knowing the laws of aerodynamics, go ahead and fly anyway.
Something like that happens among people. There have been many ponderous academic writings and dour editorials in the mainstream media lamenting that most people born poor cannot rise in American society anymore. Meanwhile, many poor immigrants arrive here from various parts of Asia, and rise on up the ladder anyway.
Often these Asian immigrants arrive not only with very little money, but also very little knowledge of English. They start out working at low-paid jobs but working so many hours, often at more than one job, that they are able to put a little money aside.
After a few years, they have enough money to open some little shop, where they still work long hours, and still save their money so that they can afford to send their children to college. Meanwhile, these children know that their parents not only expect, but demand, that they make good grades.

Black race hustlers * ( Hey N.S.A ? are you listening and taking notes ? ) * are sooooooooo sooooooo ..... yesterday and out of fashioned.
Spot on - as per usual.
Thank you Mr. Sowell. Would it be okay with you if we drafted you to run for president in 2016?
A beautiful article penned by one of the preeminent minds of our time.
There were two hustlers who started trouble just on Sunday. Now they’re claiming ‘police brutality’. Bullcrap.
I did some digging and found out they’re a bunch of occutards. One was arrested in Nigeria for theft.

Sad that Thomas Sowell is not our president insead of the dork.
Sorry, but Thomas has all the intellectual firepower and ability to use logic that is falsely attributed to Obama.
Sowell is the real thing.
Obama is the no-thing.
Mr. Sowell neglects to mention the great strength that these Asians possess. That strength is IGNORANCE of today’s America.
They do not know, and have NEVER been told that the system is rigged against them. They do not know that they cannot rise above humble beginnings. They do not know that the “poverty” of the newly arrived is their future. They do not know that education is “denied” them. They do not “know” that America is an evil racist country that will conspire to keep them down.
Not knowing the “truth” about their NEW country, they, like the bumblebee simply do that which they do so well.
Hey, what happened to my tagline? Here it is
God Rest the Memory of Bob Williams.
Years ago when I was contracting at Microsoft, I lived in an apartment complex with more than a few oriental families. Some of them were also contractors at Microsoft. When they got home from M$, they’d get to work with their families running businesses like restaurants, cleaning business buildings and laundry/dry-cleaners. There wasn’t anything they thought was beneath them. And they kept sending back form more people to come over. One guy, from China, said he’d been a university math professor making about $25/month (but he said he had a place to live and meals provided), and now he was making more than that per hour at M$. Immigrants and their stories can be a lesson for us all.
It really is something that almost a year into the SECOND term of the supposed first black president we hear all this BS about how everything is stacked against the black people. Who in the blankety-blank world do they think gave him enough votes to be elected, twelve percent of the population?
Well, not exactly. They come from a highly structured culture with 3,000 years of literacy, that had a complex system of government exams for jobs when we were in the dark ages; that had millenia of business and abstract thought built into everyday life; that had an authoritarian clan and family system that was the basis of their culture.
Contrast that to people who were brought here in chains from illiterate societies, who had their history, such as it was, eradicated, had their families repeatedly destroyed, first through slavery and then via welfare, had their work ethic undermined by discrimination, were kept out of schools, and have only been able to travel freely like everyone else in their own country for the past two generations.
I know you will respond, if at all, by saying that I’m making excuses, but I’m not. I’m filling in a few blanks in the story, because when one simplifies, one lies. Of course people with millenia of advanced culture with a supreme value placed on literacy and unbroken traditions and closely-knit families are going to do better than savages who were enslaved and then denied access to society. It’s ridiculous to compare them.
