Five people have been killed killed and dozens injured after a car drove into crowds of tourists and caught fire in Tiananmen Square.
Beijing government officials are unsure if the incident, which occurred at the site of 1989 pro-democracy protests, was a terrorist attack.
A police statement described how the car veered off the road at the north entrance of the famous square and crossed barriers before bursting into flames.
Three people who were traveling in the vehicle have all died in addition to a female tourist from the Philippines, and a male tourist from southern Guandong province.
Around 38 people are thought to have been injured in the incident.
The central and Beijing governments held a meeting to investigate the cause of the event and 'ensure the security and stability of the capital.'
The vehicle reportedly crashed directly in front of the main entrance of the Forbidden City where a portrait of the founder of Communist China, Mao Zedong, hangs.
One witness described numerous police cars, fire engines and an ambulance heading in the direction of the blaze while another, who wishes to remain anonymous, said she heard an explosion and then saw fire.
The main road through the square was closed for a short period of time as police evacuated part of the square.

China can't cover this up.

At least, according to this story, they start out from a position of being unsure. Unlike the initial US position of no way.

Thats chump change on numbers, compared to, the multi millions Mao murdered and billions he made miserable..
Interesting that communist givernments OWN the people.. why not work them to death and liquidate them for the public good..
Amazing that what communism “IS” is erased from most of the minds of this planet.. especially Europe.. Oh!.. and Canada.

What crash? There was no crash. Only an edited video being promoted by the running dogs of imperialism and hegemony.

Definitely. If in China a muslim went into a military deployment processing center and shot it up, they’d most likely NOT term the incident “workplace violence.”

Wasn’t Tiananmen - it was across the street at the Forbidden Palace and much more impactful as it is right below Mao’s big ol’face. There was another quote saying the car came around a bend and lost control - but that road is straight as a steel rule for 1/4 mile minimum in both directions. Your right they won’t be able to cover this one to the same degree - they just won’t allow it to be covered at all and hope it goes to the memory box.

"Amazing that what communism IS is erased from most of the minds of this planet.. especially Europe.. Oh!.. and Canada." Huh?
Update. In the Anglosphere, the closest thing to a communist government is sitting in Washington, DC. Canada and Australia both have conservative governments.

They're not as bold as the ILLEGAL ALIEN IN CHIEF, who's like the boy who cried wolf in reverse,
and now no one believes anything he says.

I don't know.
I'm just a retired military air traffic controller somewhere way off in the woods in Mississippi.

It was a joke. For a while every time Mark Steyn filled in for Rush Limbaugh there was a story about Uyghers.
