DETROIT -- Tesla Motors (TSLA) shares dropped Monday after reports of a second fiery crash involving the Palo Alto company's Model S electric car.

It’s free. You just plug it into that magic outlet and the energy just flows into it from nowhere.
Unless you are not a liberal, then you might just realize that in certain parts of the country, you are driving a coal-powered car.
Damn, I should have bought in at $100....I’d still be making money.
The “battery compartment” on a Tesla S is the entire chassis. I was in their showroom in Menlo Park last year and they had one on display with the body removed, so you could see the undercarriage where the battery packs reside.
Just a glitch.
Contrary to Carlucci, it’s not “free”, it’s just free to you, the Tesla driver. It’s paid for by Tesla and is wrapped into the car’s price, so long as you recharge at a Tesla rapid charging station. Tesla is accelerating the development and deployment of these stations.
Tesla tells me that the lifetime free power up policy will continue for the Model X due out next year.
UPDATE: The loan is ALREADY paid off.

Is that supposed to make me feel better? They, government took $465 Billion out of service (if they even had it in the first place - likely borrowed it like all the other BS giveaways, and piled more debt on the debt pile).
Where do you think that ‘repayment’ went? It sure as hell didn’t go back into the “we gotta save this for the mortgage” pile. It went right back into cheese doodles for the SNAP recipients of some such other bullshit...more debt.
I personally don’t care if the truth makes you feel better or worse.
It’s just the truth.
As for the rest of it, it appears that your tinfoil hat is slipping over your ears.
It isn’t tinfoil sir. It is the unending processions of needless taxes with which all of us are burdened. Your like of Tesla-esque technology and worth does not translate to my requirement to fund it.
Take your ‘tinfoil’ comments and shove it.
You mean to tell me even their POWER is subsidized? This is complete B#LLSH!T!!!!!
How much could you make shorting Tesla stock, buying a Tesla and then setting it on fire?
Its the ePinto.
I can’t imagine what you are thinking. If by “subsidized” you mean subsidized by Tesla to its owners, then yes, but if you mean subsidized by the government than it is YOU who is spouting complete B#LLSH!T!!!!! Tesla’s charging stations use power generated by Tesla itself. Nobody is subsidizing besides Tesla.
Tesla will do just fine without subsidies, and whatever your feelings are regarding taxes (feeling that I am sure we share), you are not funding Tesla.
I meant are the taxpayers subsidizing the power. You cleared that up for me, thank you. But in the end, I suppose we the taxpayers actually ARE subsidizing the powering of the batteries because Tesla will only pass along the increase to the government. So, Tesla owners believe the free power will go on indefinitely? And, where are we going to get the coal to keep manufacturing the power? Rhetorical question.
Due to the zombie minions of libs and lib lovers in this country, we are in very serious trouble on almost every front, and power generation is certainly not the least among these.
The Tesla “problem” is a very small pimple on our nation’s acne ridden face.
I can’t figure out what you are talking about with this remark: “But in the end, I suppose we the taxpayers actually ARE subsidizing the powering of the batteries because Tesla will only pass along the increase to the government.”
What? How?
And this: “So, Tesla owners believe the free power will go on indefinitely?
Yes, they do, and that’s Tesla’s business plan. Of course, if Tesla goes bankrupt, then all bets are off. But so far at least, it’s going to plan. They are so confident that they are going to continue this sales point with the new Model X.
And “we” are not manufacturing the power, Tesla is, at least for its proprietary charging stations. If you charge up at home, then obviously the owner will pay for the metered power.
As for the general problem of electrical power generation in the face of the zombie left hell bent on taking us back to the dark ages, that’s a problem that far eclipses the use of power by a handful of automobiles.
LOL!
There’s a commercial for some car that actually slams on the brakes itself before you rear-end another car.
Whiplash will be soon be in fashion.
I saw that.
Maybe the Tesla, knowing it is about to be engulfed in flame, drives itself into the nearest river, lake or stream.
Or sewer.
If it were a Smartcar, it could simply plunge into the nearest puddle.
