The Republican National Committee is taking a drastically different approach to spending its money in the upcoming mid-term elections next year, putting up more money early on in the campaigns to build the party's grassroots rather than stockpile its cash until the final days of the election as it has been in the past.
"Things have changed," RNC spokesperson Sean Spicer wrote in a memo Monday. "That [former] strategy is both outdated and ineffective."
Now, instead of spending primarily on television ads and get-out-the-vote operations during the election's final 90 days, the RNC says it is investing in consistent outreach to minority communities, and bulking up on its field and digital operations.
"We cant parachute in a few days before voters head to the polls," Spicer said. "We have do the work now and we are."
The re-imagined template for the RNC's spending regimen is intended to address a number of the Republican Party's weaknesses outlined earlier this year in an RNC "autopsy" of the disastrous 2012 elections, including a data and digital disadvantage to Democrats and a lack of organizing at the community level.
How nice.
I bet there are some forensic experts on FR that can shed some light on why the GOPe lost in 2012.
For starters, the GOP didn't lose in the 2010 mid-terms (they made huge gains up and down the ticket and we took the House because the Tea Party packed townhall meetings, ignited the base fighting Obamacare)
As usual, right at the trailing edge of technology.
Robo calls, call centers and mass mailing haven’t worked for 10 years.

The grassroots are already there. The grassroots are the people of the party who do all the grunt work.
The grassroots are the ones who have steadily developed the RNC Party Platform over many, many years into a mirror of the Constitution.
The Platform that none of you read.
The grassroots are the TEA Party.
"Build" the grassroots? How about "Recognize" the grassroots within your midst instead of constantly ignoring them and then kicking them in the teeth when it is convenient for ya?
They’re also sending a message that they won’t spend money behind Tea Party candidates that win the primaries.
Is it just me, or does the GOPe almost seem like the walkers in Walking Dead...
Delusional. To “get the grassroots” all the stupid party has to do is go on offense and fight for conservative values. Cruz gave them the formula but they don’t want to use it. The GOP establishment come off as mostly metrosexual liberals. It seems it is too much work battling the marxists day in and day out. They’d rather lose than govern in a conservative manner.
BUMP!
So these people blew the 2012 election cycle and have spent the year since scolding US for what we do wrong. I could have told them this 5 years ago. The age of the 72 hour last minute blitz was dead with 2008 (if not earlier), but our leadership followed their same old blueprint and got utterly destroyed.
Yes. RINOspeak for spending to stamp out Tea Party grassfires.
This is significant because, with the RNC trying to reconnect with the party’s grassroots, it will hear of their dissatisfaction with the party’s leadership and their lack of energy in confronting Obama and the Left.
Losers.
You cannot “build the grassroots”, while at the same time, attacking us from behind, bending us over and using KY with sand in it.
Go to the head of the class, pass Go and collect your $200!
The GOP plans to use your donations to defeat the candidates who threaten the established critters who have been threatened by the "real grassroots," and thus the candidates you want will get skunked to keep guys and gals like McConnell, Boehner, Susan Collins, etc.
They're running scared and must stop the masses with the pitch forks intent on defeating them not just the Democrats!
Here’s an idea: govern on the things you campaign on.
BINGO
Interesting. I will think about an answer for them.
