Obama was itching to do it. He doesn't like the word "no". He seemingly doesn't get along that well with Netanyahu. But this would be a move against Assad he would approve.

Then stir Russia into the mix. They are going to be MAD!

From the Jerusalem Post (also articles on Haaretz, Huffpo, CNN so it's not a news blackout) but still obviously being kept low key.

Well, it would seem it was deliberate to leak it unless it was Biden. Question is why.
