I’m curious how his 2 children could be progressives when he was a conservative? Makes me think that perhaps Nancy was more liberal than we knew- after all, I’ve read stories of Pat Nixon, Betty Ford and the Bushes wives who were Dem lights but kept it hidden. Was Nancy also a Dem lite and the reason her spawn turned out to be libs?
You could be right, but I don’t know if I would be so quick to blame the mothers. I think in most cases of privilege and wealth — and even for “regular” people — it’s more a case of the child never growing up completely, living in a perpetually rebellious state, always having to prove themsevles independent from the parent, though in reality they probably rely on said parent for money, status, etc.
Reagan was always an admirer of FDR, and greatly disliked nuclear weapons. He campaigned for Hubert Humphrey at one time.
