When we dropped the bombs on Japan, we were already involved in a long and bloody war. Loss of life was heavy on both sides. We were winning but to finish the job we would have had to invade Japan. More people, both Japanese and Allied would have died, too.
The Japanese were not ready to surrender.
It is much better to minimize our own loss of people and also the enemy’s loss, if victory can be achieved.
Therefore, to end the war and to keep the loss of people lower than it would have been had we invaded, we dropped the bombs on Japan.
It was drastic. It worked.
I don’t see the same scenario currently with Iran.
I think the world could use more glass and less Islam.
<....”I dont see the same scenario currently with Iran”....>
Israel would though...
not as yet....
That's what people were told. The truth is that we dropped the bombs on Japan to keep the Russians out. Bomb dropped exactly when the Russians were about to invade Japan, the Russians warned us months before and by agreement with Roosevelt had to wait before invading. We dropped the bomb same day they were about to move on Japan. That stopped the Russians cold in their tracks in Korea, ending in the division of Korea that continues to this day. These games with Russia continue, now with moves regarding Iran.
