Obama: GOP 'rooting' for ObamaCare failure By Elise Viebeck - 10/26/13 06:00 AM ET
President Obama blasted GOP opponents of his healthcare law as hypocrites after Republicans expressed concerns about the rocky rollout of HealthCare.gov.
In his weekly address, Obama suggested that the GOP's focus on the issue was in bad faith because Republicans have pushed for years to repeal, defund or dismantle ObamaCare.
Republicans "spent the last few years so obsessed with denying people access to health insurance that they just shut down the government and threatened default over it," Obama said.
"It's well past the time for folks to stop rooting for [the law's] failure."
Obama's comments come after a tough week for the administration. HealthCare.gov, the online enrollment portal for ObamaCare coverage, remained mired in problems in its fourth week.
The rollout has drawn fire from Republicans and Democrats alike, including former members of the administration.
This week, Obama announced several steps to improve the system's functionality, including appointing former White House budget director Jeff Zients as a chief "fixer" for the site.
Federal health officials are also benefiting from a "tech surge" involving experts brought in to triage the sign-up process.
Republicans argue that the disastrous rollout of HealthCare.gov indicates that ObamaCare is unworkable and have promised tough oversight on the implementation stumbles.
Obama pushed back on Saturday, citing the law's more popular provisions and explaining the logic behind the insurance marketplaces.
The website "gathers insurers under one system to compete for your business," Obama said. "And that choice and competition have actually helped bring prices down."
Obama also described efforts to repair the enrollment process, urged frustrated users to try enrolling by telephone and vowed not to give up until the process is smooth.
"We're only a few weeks into a six-month open enrollment period, and everyone who wants insurance through the marketplace will get it," Obama said.
The Tyrant states the obvious. We’re also rooting for the end of his regime.
Yes, we are. We ALL are. Just how did this affect your total control of its implementation, Kenyan?
Feggov has NO business running all of healthcare. None
All patriots are rooting for the failure of any legislation purposely designed to destroy freedom.
Obamacare was doomed to failure from day one. Blaming it on those who predicted it is pure desperation.
Republicans "spent the last few years so obsessed with denying people access to health insurance that they just shut down the government and threatened default over it," Obama said.
"It's well past the time for folks to stop rooting for [the law's] failure."
Poor baby.
0bama is clueless.
“Obama: GOP ‘rooting’ for ObamaCare failure”
Um, yes. Otherwise referred to as the triumph of liberty over the state.
Not tooting, predicting.
Bammy rooting to win his War on America.
It’s not that we’re rooting for it so much that we TOLD YOU IT WOULD FAIL - over and over and over again......and you called us racists and terrorists and hostage takers and idiots and so on......so now we do have a touch of schaden-FRAUD!
He is selling me short. I want everything he has done and wants to do to FAIL. The reason is, his success is America’s failure. I owe him nothing.
Unfortunately it won’t ever “fail.” Government will keep throwing more money at it and ever more people will wind up with crappy care, rationing, lost doctors, third-world doctors, no advanced technology. The more money government pours into it, the worse it will get. It’ll “fail” the same way welfare and social security have failed — more and more government dependence, but the programs never go away. The Powers That Be, regardless of party, WANT more government dependence because that’s their source of power and wealth.
Maybe America will wake from its nightmare in 60 or 70 years. We are really screwed. I pray I’m wrong, but I don’t think I am.
This is a talking point that must be confronted head-on. It actually gives us a chance to try to mold the language used in the debate.
“Yes, I am proud to root for the failure of Socialism in America. To not do so would be to root for the failure of America itself.”
If it fails to be implemented, a big part of that failure will be the attempts to sabotage it, not that that is necessarily a bad thing.
He finally says something truthful.
And we would have gotten away with keep it a secret if it wasn’t for those meddling kids and their dog...president.
*rolleyes*
