Building a GOP majority on quicksand
FoxNews.com ^ | Oct 25, 2013 | Daniel Horowitz

While House Republicans united to fight Obamacare, besides Ted Cruz (R-Texas) and Mike Lee (R-Utah), almost every Senate Republican worked to sabotage the effort.

Instead of using their filibuster-strong minority to enable House Republicans to jam the Democrat-controlled Senate with legislation, Senate Republicans empowered Senator Harry Reid (D-Nev.) to jam the House.

During the ObamaCare showdown this past month, one after another, Republican senators went to the Senate floor to denounce fellow Republicans and echo Harry Reid’s talking points.

When the Senate was voting on the nomination of Todd Jones (of Fast and Furious fame) for director of the ATF, Senator McCain was seen on C-Span whipping up votes for Democrats. Taken as a whole, roughly half of the GOP conference could be counted on to join the united Democrat caucus on many major policy issues.

I was spitting mad today after listening to Michael defend his position that we have to leave the future of the Republican party to the likes of Rove, McCain and McConnell. His reasoning is that letting the Tea Party grow in power will cause the loss of more elections for conservatives.

He thinks that the key to saving America from progressive influence is to elect establishment candidates in order to claim a majority. I listen to Medved to get some diversity of opinion, but his love for all things McCain drove me up the wall today.

Then I heard Mark Levin read the Daniel Horowitz column in its entirety and I was elated to know there is someone of influence out there saying what I feel.

What good is having “your team win” if it is composed of players from the other “team”? You lose.

I was spitting mad today after listening to Michael defend his position...

Are you talking about that moderate squish, Medved?

Medved has become a show devoted to fighting conservatism and the tea party, and the Palin/Cruz wing of the GOP.

His show has really degenerated from what it was the first few years, now it is pure propaganda with a single view allowed, Medved has grown increasingly intolerant and short tempered over the years, there is very little interchange allowed as it becomes almost PBS like in pushing it’s liberal view.

I respectfully disagree with you.

While FOX isn’t hard charging on a scale like Levin or Limbaugh, they’re an alternative to the institutionalized networks that carry water for the DNC. The masses are going to watch TV for the news. Beats the alternative- no FOX at all. Not a cheerleader for FOX, by the way... just trying to be pragmatic.

I sent this zinger to Bill O’Reilly last night.

Bill,

“Your interview with (GOV) Bill Richardson, was about as vacuous as it gets. A box of laundry soap would have offered better responses. Did FOX actually pay for this appearance? Shame on him, you and FOX.”

Fox isn’t a real alternative. They highlight the progressive right side vs the progressive left side. Are they the only ones that give the progressive right side a fair shake? Yeah, they are, but who cares? The progressive right is just as much against freedom loving conservatives as the progressive left, if no more so.

That moderate squish pissed me off, but I’m talking about the editorial I linked. I hope you read it and are inclined to pass it on.

The Senate is part of the Exempt Elite.

"Obamacare is mandatory for thee, but not for me."

(Where do I get my 75% subsidy?)

I saw Ted Cruz on FOX, and Sarah Palin too; both portrayed in a good light. I’m fairly certain that I won’t be seeing them anytime soon, nor in the same kind of way, on any of the other networks.

The remote control is always close by when I’m assigned to the Staff Duty Officer position at the command and control center (located in a bunker deep underground at Ft Living Room).

Eagles up! freepersup!

My brother refers to the news networks as the sleepy channels. I'm house / dog sitting for him for the next two weeks while he works in the Caymans installing hurricane resistant doors in a beach front hotel. When his girlfriend gets back (she's visiting him) I'll lose control of the remote. Free Republic will become sanity island for me.

I've been out hiking the Pacific Crest Trail for the last six months, so a little TV is quite the indulgence. Shortly, they'll be a TV blackout, as work will take a priority. I'm OK with a couple bones. There was an interesting story on the life of Krauthammer tonight. Even the most jaded critic would've found a few of the segments compelling. Really.

Lock and load! ;0)

Medved is only conservative about Israel

America doesn’t count

Never was a conservative unless compared to Spielberg or Weinstein
