Wal-Mart fliers shouldn't have carried Northbrook seal (not authorized by the village)

Local officials say fliers with the picture of the Northbrook sign circulated recently to garner support for the controversial Wal-Mart project were not authorized by the village.

The material sent to some residents over the last week, sparked questions from some people.

"It does create confusion," Steven Elrod, the village's attorney, said at a Oct. 23 plan commission meeting. "Village of Northbrook is not responsible nor … does it endorse this particular piece of literature."
