Crank up the defibrillator: The New York Post is having a coronary over what it says is "Obama's plan" to sissify the United States Marines. "A change to the Marine Corps' uniform hats could take the hard-nosed Leathernecks from the Halls of Montezuma to the shops of Christopher Street," gasps the tabloid in what it calls an "exclusive" article headlined "Obama wants marines to wear 'girly' hats." Christopher Street is a snarky reference to the historical and symbolic center of gay life in New York City. The Post goes on to claim that "officials are on the verge of swapping out the Marines' iconic caps
with a new version that some have derided as so 'girly' that they would make the French blush." Hats aside, from the derisive tone and language, clearly someone doesn't think that either gays or women are tough enough to serve, not to mention the insult to the entire nation of France and our commander in chief, who has nothing to do with this decision.

Ewwwww!
Weren’t the Village People in the Navy?
There is, as well, the inevitability of payback. What 0bama has in mind for the Navy might make The Village People look like a platoon of Spartans. Women in crackerjacks? (Sound of hyperventilating) WOMEN IN CRACKERJACKS??!?
Senior Chief, yer lookin' good this morning...
It’s the other way around. You squidlies are the sea going version of bus drivers! All kidding aside, Happy belated Navy Birthday Sailor!
I almost spit my lunch on my screen!
I believe these constant uniform changes are done to benefit the manufacturers.
I am a squid, and this outrages and offends me.
I did my share of poking at Marines when I was in the USN, but I always had a huge amount of respect for them.
Just getting through USMC boot camp demands that, in my opinion, never mind having to go into places like Peleliu, Chosin, Hue and Fallujah.
As the son of a Marine, and a bluejacket myself; the epic tennis match of insults that MUST fly between us never fails to lighten my mood. Absolutely hilarious, i love it.
As for the cover issue; whoever is pushing this needs a keelhauling. Don’t $#!% with the Corps.
From the Marines Facebook page this morning:
Despite what you may have seen in other headlines, there will be no change to the male uniform cover. Straight from the Commandant of the Marine Corps Gen. James F. Amos:
1. The President in no way, shape or form directed the Marine Corps to change our uniform cover.
2. We are looking for a new cover for our female Marines for one overriding reason: the former manufacturer went out of business.
3. The Marine Corps has zero intention of changing the male cover.

Obama wants to homosexualize and thereby to destroy America, beginning with the Marines.
The guy is a sick, sick puppy.
On rare occasion, it actually work out well. Daphne du Maurier was the wife of Lieutenant General Frederick Browning during the developmental phases of the British Parachute Regiments. She is the one who selected the maroon beret for the nascent airborne units, and which are worn proudly and smartly by the British paras to this day. Moreover, they have been adopted as the headgear for airborne forces by many other nations, including the US.
It’s all in good fun. I have a great respect for sailors and what they do, Corpsman above all. The Navy-Marine Corps team has always been a great team. We were “Joint” before Joint was cool.
This Marine's cover is off to every Corpsman, Medic, nurse and doctor that wears, has worn, or will ever wear the US uniform.
They were there when we needed them, and many of us would be in Boot Hill rather than aging gracefully at home now if it wasn't for them.
In God We Trust......Semper Fi
Semper Fi sweetly pie!
A post with the same question was on the FB page. Reply:
Marines: The original survey pushed out with the Dan Daly cover was incorrect and pulled, but not before media ran a story about it. There will be no change to the male cover.
IMHO, the most functional military headgear is probably the boonie hat, but in garrison, the beret is as functional as the garrison/overseas cap, and certainly far better looking than the proposed USMC cover. When it’s authorized wear is limited to certain units (SF/Rangers/Airborne) it’s certainly good for esprit as well.
