Ohio just became the fourth GOP-controlled state to approve Medicaid expansion under Obamacare
The Washington Post ^ | 10/21/2013 | Niraj Chokshi

Ohio just pushed the country past a symbolic threshold: it’s become the 25th state to pursue expanding Medicaid under the president’s health-care law, making the nation’s states evenly split on the issue for the first time. As of the start of the month, 24 states had opted to forge ahead with the expansion and 26 had not, according to the Kaiser Family Foundation, a health policy news and analysis nonprofit. Ohio was among those that were not expanding health care to more low-income adults, though Republican Gov. John Kasich wanted it. But a seven-member board that considered his request got its fourth pro-expansion member, Rep. Ross McGregor (R), on Monday morning and had voted 5 to 2 to forge ahead by the afternoon, according to local reports. Some are considering suing the state, according to The Columbus Dispatch. Many oppose the expansion on principle, as it also represents an expansion of the size of government.

Aargh! What just happened in Ohio? Seriously, anyone from there with more info? I thought the GOP controlled the legislature and that Kasich was a conservative. Am I mistaking Kasich with someone else?

People in OH haven’t voted for anybody good since the late Robert A. Taft, Sr., and he too sometimes strayed from the conservative position.

Kasich forced it through by using an obscure legal authority called the ‘Controlling Board’, neatly sidestepping the legislature.

Its called free health care that Ohio residents are taxed for either way.

How many seniors turn down free parts of medicare after paying a lifetime of medicare payroll taxes because they hate the concept of socialized medicine?

called human nature.

At least few states are setting up the exchanges.

LOL...just in time to make Ohio residents eligible to pay the penalties for not buying government-subsidized ObamaCare. They must be so proud.

Ohio, from whence Boehner cometh? They’re as RINO-populated as New Jersey, and Kasich the big sales-tax expander is their anything-but-conservative leader. (Only the liberal media calls Kasich “conservative”.)

Kasich SAID he was a conservative, but turned out to be a brainwashed Christian who thinks it’s biblical to take from some people and give to others...he’s wrong!

He’s a loser, too.

By doing what he did, he violates:

* Romans via Paul says governments are installed by God...so Kasich violated that

* Unintended consequences of 0bummercare/Medicaid expansion causes tax payers to have money TAKEN, e.g., stolen from them and given to others...I doubt the Lord thinks that was ok

* This expansion also gives rise and reward to those already cheating the government

* This expansion assists illegal aliens - can of worms, so Kasich must be ok with amnesty, which also causes people to violate the Romans’ principle aforementioned and hurts businesses and taxpayers, e.g., steals from them

* It is also biblical to work...all of this violates that as well

Good reasoning, Kasich...

At least with exchanges they have to pay something. If the GOP were serious;y worried about 'socialized medicine', why'd they pass Medicare Part D .

Virginia is not one of the states that I know of and it is making health care VERY expensive for me.

Kasich sounds like a Huckaphoney.

GOP controlled? Kasich ran in 2010 as anti-Obamacare, but by 2012 he became one of the most maniacally pro-Obamacare governors, it’s not even funny. He should just switch parties. He’s probably one of Obama’s favorite governors.

Ohio voted against Obamacare. Like a whopping 66% against Obamacare.
Kasich is acting like Obama - Dictator Wannabe

I’m really discouraged about this. Discouraged to the point where I feel like there is just no use in voting for anything or anyone - anymore.

RE :”At least with exchanges they have to pay something”

That is why its unattractive.

But with the Medicaid expansion a governor has to tell his voters :”Sorry, I know that allowing you to have medicaid would cost our state nothing, but I am against it. You always have the emergency room if you get real sick, Just throw away the hospital bills for that if you cant afford them”

In bright red states its no problem to say that, on AM radio too.
In Blue or purple states like VA it doesnt go over very well.

Your answer is in your statement. I'll give you a hint, and it involves the letters G,O and P.

Since the Federal Gov’t is (for now) going to reimburse 100% of the cost for Medicaid expansion to the States Kasich is taking money from citizens of other States.
California is really going to rake it in. I saw that they enrolled 600,000 in Medicaid already!
