Obama, liberals and Democrats are about to discover reality. They have defined themselves by rigidly opposing even the most rudimentary repairs of Obamacare. And by setting their jaws firmly against every attempt to stop piling our debts on future generations they have defined themselves as the more selfish and self-serving of the two parties.

It’s pretty hard to morph a trail wreck into a single payer system. More likely the entire mess will be abandoned and existing insurers will step into the vacuum.

If only.

No. The clear and present danger is that the thing will collapse and Congress will attempt to fix it piecemeal instead of repealing it. The fixes will be another step toward single-payer because the Republicans won't want to see stories on TV about this one and that one who were hurt.

Exactly. The obama admin is a laughingstock. Of course it always has been, but Oclustercare has really shined a light on it.

You said....
“Agreed. So many here at FR think this is all planned to lead to single payer....if so it is a very bad plan. If we cannot trust our gov to deliver obamacare how can we trust to deliver single payer?”

Agree 100%. I’ve heard the theory that this is a planned disaster to make the push for singlepayer easier. I don’t buy it. There are better ways to do that than having a disasterous plan and risking losing political capital

Au contrere, mon FRere.

Obamacare may, in the end, be the end of Obama. It disproves the entire claim of socialism/Marxism that the government can actually run something.

"Dennis Byrne: Maybe, just maybe, when Obamacare alienates enough Americans, we'll finally see Washington do something about this ill-fated health insurance scheme and the flood of entitlements that indisputably will drown future generations."

We do not need Washington DC to do anything. We need our healthcare system put back into the hands of free market private insurance industry. We have seen many times how something in the hands of government goes to hell. We have seen how governments can't even build a decent car. How do we expect government to take on 1/7th of the nation's economy with Obamacare. With the latest software "glitch," American have been burnt once by fire. They will be fools to continue being burnt by fire. Let it be a teaching moment and lets get this Utopian Unicorn fairytale out of the Big Government hands and out of their minds.

I wish you were right. I fear many of our countrymen will see no such proof. Only the need to refine it.

Only the need to refine it.

You might be able to refine poor performance. But you cannot refine a sh!t storm.

This so-called "Affordable Care Act" was never about improving health care, health care costs, or about helping citizens with low-cost insurance for their health care.

Back on April 2, 2010, Byron York's column on the subject provides direct quotations from Senator Max Baucus, a leader and strong proponent of the misnomer known as "Affordable Care Act." Excerpt from York's column:

"Health reform is 'an income shift,' Democratic Sen. Max Baucus said on March 25. 'It is a shift, a leveling, to help lower income, middle income Americans.'

"In his halting, jumbled style, Baucus explained that in recent years 'the maldistribution of income in America has gone up way too much, the wealthy are getting way, way too wealthy, and the middle income class is left behind.' The new health care legislation, Baucus promised, 'will have the effect of addressing that maldistribution of income in America.'" (End of excerpt)

"It is a shift, a leveling . . . ."

America's liberty and prosperity for over 200 years was based on another idea, for the earnings of hardworking citizens were protected from the coercive hand of government by a written Constitution which did not allow the Baucuses of the world such "taking" power. Hear Samuel Adams:

"Is it now high time for the people of this country to explicitly declare whether they will be free men or slaves. It is an important question which ought to be decided. It concerns more than anything in this life. The salvation of our souls is interested in this event. For wherever tyranny is established, immorality of every kind comes in like a torrent, it is in the interest of tyrants to reduce the people to ignorance and vice.” - Samuel Adams

And:

“The utopian schemes of leveling and a community of goods, are as visionary and impractical as those which vest all property in the crown. These ideas are arbitrary, despotic, and, in our government unconstitutional.” - Samuel Adams

I loved it. For a brief moment I felt like America was back.

(And that feeling is starting to slightly come back while this Obamaware quickly crumbles.)

Correct. Even they aren’t stupid enough to do such a thing in hopes of getting single payer through.

“We need our healthcare system put back into the hands of free market private insurance industry.”

That is very unlikely since neither party is interested in your very fine idea.

They are already blaming the fact that they have to go thru insurance companies on the failure of the system.
