Food stamp recipients are turning the government handouts into quick cash with ads on Craigslist, despite efforts to stem fraud.
The federally-funded grocery assistance coupons -- which are issued by states in the form of debit cards under the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) -- are being sold on the online bulletin board as well as auction sites like eBay. FoxNews.com found several offerings at Craigslist sites around the country, where the sellers offered the welfare benefits at large discounts from face value.

Welfare, free medical and dental, food stamps, three free meals a day at school and take home food for the weekends, subsidized housing ... a family of four gets over $50,000 a year in benefits.
Not to mention the availability of a walk-in doctor 24/7 to give the kid some cough drops.
A better clue shows up later about states cracking down on people who ask for more than 4 replacement cards in a year.
Where did all those Rilla’s come from?
Some cops out there are gonna have just all kinds of fun running a Craigslist sting.
In some of the groceries I see, SNAP use has just become an accepted scam, and no one cares.
I feel like I am missing out. I pay a lot of taxes, and meanwhile Obama and the US Government are flying over American cities throwing money out of helicopters.
It makes me want to buy some EBT cards since the seller apparently doesn’t need them any more.
The people I know who do this don’t need to advertise, they already know people who are willing.
Probably true.
Some will try to advertise when greed leads them to seek a little higher return on the scam.
A couple of years ago I reported a very similar Craigslist scam to the sheriff. A couple of deputies went out to make the purchase. State got involved and the individual later lost everything.
I’m sure a lot of us have seen this. I was behind a girl at the check out. Her buggy was full and full of stuff I can’t afford on a regular basis. She had name brand frozen foods, I had store brands. She had tons of chips and snacks, high dollar cuts of meat, crab meat, steaks etc.
She used 5 ebt cards to pay. I have to be doing something wrong.
Hey ColdOne, I got an EBT... Early Bed Time.
Shut up and get back to work!
Wait a minute- smell test alert. They don’t give out stamps any more, they’re EBT cards. Maybe I’ll read the rest to see how they explain it.
The cards have an ID number, don’t they? The only way to get a replacement should be when the old card is deactivated.

They have become a commodity in the ‘poor’ community. We work to earn money, pay taxes, and the corrupt government takes the money and gives it to the ‘poor’ who laugh at us and do whatever the hell they want with the money.
We are being taken for great big suckers.
BTW, those things are forbidden by Craigs TOS.
Nuthin' to see here; she must'a been shoppin' fer five families!
They busted a lady in north Mississippi a couple years ago with FOUR cards.
One from Mississippi, one from Tennessee, one from Arkansas and one from Louisiana.
That’s close to $75 a day. Just for food.
Tip of the iceberg too.
“a family of four gets over $50,000 a year in benefits.”
a family of six gets over $85,000 a year in benefits.
