Democrat Terry McAuliffe has jumped to a 17-point lead over Republican Ken Cuccinelli in the Virginia gubernatorial race following the federal government shutdown that hit Northern Virginia hard and Hillary Clintons weekend visit to the state.
The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of Likely Virginia Voters finds McAuliffe with 50% support to Cuccinellis 33%. Libertarian candidate Robert Sarvis is a distant third with eight percent (8%) of the vote. Three percent (3%) like some other candidate, while five percent (5%) remain undecided.

I saw more Romney signs here this part of Maryland than Obama signs and Romney still lost this county.
Northern VA is like Maryland. but VA Beach has a hell of a lot of government jobs too.
I did a check. This was a single day Sunday poll which can easily deflate the % of the most conservative voters especially if done during the day which it was. Calls were made from 1 pm to 9 pm. So this poll was conducted at the worst possible time in a way that excluded some of the most conservative voters which are church goers. I’m convinced this is an outlier. We need a new poll out quick or this thing is going to kill us.
This is happening more and more. Libtards control about 10% of the nation’s land, but 60% of its people (most of them welfare drones or communists). Time to kick them out.
LibsRINOS such as McCain, Graham and King will be dancing I told you so, at least this year anyway.
There! Fixed it for you.
Ads for "the Cooch" are now about equal to those for McAuliffe but McAullife ads savaged Couccinelli for months without a reply.
“Im going to go in a deep depression with this guy as my governor.”
And you thought going thru 8 years of Bubba was bad.
This race is going to be all about turnout. I firmly believe that if all conservatives get to the polls behind Cuccinelli, he can win.
I think a lot of low information voters in NOVA are going to stay home. This is going to be an interesting election because the “likely voter” model has a lot of presidential election year voters included that probably will not show up in an off-year election.
It might be an estimate of the vote with Demonrat vote fraud factored in.
More proof that the country has lost its mind and is going socialist. Amerika will be totally commie in the next two or three election cycles. The House is the only thing that is stopping them from their agenda of total gun control, homo lifestyles for all of us, outlawing of conservative web sites, political parties, news sites, outlawing the Church. It is coming. The Antichrist is coming and he might be from Kenya.
You can clearly see that if not for those damn Liberaltarians, conservatives would... lose!
Do you think Rasmussen’s poll is an outlier. The other polls all have it closer
I'll be there.
Either the Tea Party comes up ahead in the primaries OR they need to run against the RINO candidate as an independent. Better for their democrat opponent to WIN and blame all on republicans than a republican blaming all on republicans.
Republicans blaming republicans is a guaranteed microphone and camera on the MSM.
Even better, start now with our own Gang of 6 or 8 or 20 or 50 already elected conservatives and threaten to pull a Joe Lieberman and change parties right now.
Of course it wont change the the republican status in the Senate but it certainly will make it much more difficult for the GOPe to win it in 2014. As for the House, if the GOPe becomes the minority, so be it. They deserve to be the minority party because they’ve been acting like the minority party ever since they became the majority in 2010.
In the Senate ya had 19 GOP Senators vote against and the other 28 for the deal, total is 47. (pretty much the same the first and last votes) When you lose 60% of your house (Senate GOP) caucus on a stand its more than a simple talk radio like theme problem. Its a sure lose.
One problem with trying blame a shutdown on Dems is that Dems have archives of tapes of GOP members saying that they want the GOP to shutdown the government, and ya got freepers here posting the same themes.
Dems tend not to go on record saying stuff like that.
Could be TEA is learning that not responding or even better, lying to pollsters messes up the RAT vote fraud calculus.
Thanks for the info, that explains the large gap. Even throwing that out leaves Cucinelli around 7 points down in the RCP average, but that’s a gap that can be closed.
Sadly as big government has grown soooooooooooo big, VA has transformed from being a solidly conservative southern state to a solidy blue northern liberal state.
Makes me sick to think Mcaullife will be governor of Virginia. Why would anyone vote for him?
Dear Jesus. I feel like i just got punched in the stomach.
I read that Cuccinelli is a RINO, and has hired a McCain advisor and was critical of Cruz.
