A poll released Tuesday suggests Democrat Terry McAuliffe has pulled away in the campaign for Virginia governor, opening a 17-point lead against Republican Attorney General Kenneth T. Cuccinelli II two weeks from Election Day.
The poll, conducted by Rasmussen Reports, has Mr. McAuliffe ahead 50-33 by far the largest margin of any poll thus far in the race.
The survey of 1,000 likely voters has a 3 percentage point margin of error. It was conducted Sunday, a day after former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton campaigned with Mr. McAuliffe in Falls Church.
The results come after Rasmussen last month had Mr. McAuliffe with a 6 percentage point lead, 44 percent to 38 percent, over Mr. Cuccinelli. That poll was conducted before the two-week federal government shutdown, which other surveys have suggested had a disproportionately negative effect on Republicans.

Giving Terry McAuliffe a seat in government is like giving an escaped death row convict a fully automatic rifle and a pallet of ammunition...

Why? Is Ken that bad of candidate? Did he have a Macaca moment? Is he running that bad of campaign?

The RINO fools will ALWAYS be in DENIAL, they will always blame their own downfall on the Tea party and never the fact that they are bunch of country club liberal minded elitists that cannot connect with the man on the street...

I see 2014 rather as the year the TP movement will really, really take off.

Cuccinelli was a fool to attack Cruz 3 weeks ago. The margin has exploded open since then. I doubt that had anything to do with it... it's more that Virginia has simply succumbed to the tidal wave of liberals from DC and MD. Demographics killed us.

I grew up in Northern VA, it is now a cesspool of bureaucrats, liberals and hipsters, which all vote Communist.
I can't get over the change, just in the last 20 years. Now, you can't swing a cat without exposing it to 10 different languages. Coupled with the government contractors feeding off the public trough, and every time I have someone visit, I have to preface every statement with "it wasn't always like this ...".

Only if the “Whig RINO” Party would get it’s plug pulled.

I have to preface every statement with "it wasn't always like this ...". Very true... Hampton Roads is vastly different now than when I moved here in 1995. It's reflective of the changing tide throughout the country. Producers are phasing out and giving way to the parasite class.

They want their own Owe Malley. Unfortunately, that seems to be the case. The traditional Americans who once populated this state are being supplanted by those who crave regulation over every facet of their lives.
Very sad to see this...

The biggest implication here is it will hand Virginia to Hillary Clinton in 2016 with no hassle with Clintonite McAuliffe there to make sure of it. Look at the bigger plan here.

I agree. I am going against my rule to vote for Cuccinelli (I was very disappointed that he distanced himself from Cruz), only because of who he is running against. But any mistakes KC made were irrelevant. NOVA is just too big, and swings too far to the left, for any Republican (RINO or otherwise) to have much of a chance.
KC will do well in most of PW county, however. I have never in my life seen so many signs out that way.

What is wrong with VA that they would elect an absolute crook like McAuliffe? He has a "D" after his name, plus he's tightly connected to the Clintons. This state has a h**d-on for Hillary.
