Now that the president has lost the “Morning Joe” crowd, ObamaCare may be in even deeper political trouble than we thought.
Mark Halperin, the “Game Change” coauthor and a regular on Joe’s show, called the rollout “unacceptable” and added that “the secrecy is unacceptable,” accusing the administration of withholding information about how many people have signed up.
His fellow panelist, liberal commentator Mike Barnicle, ratcheted up from there: “They’re lying about it now,” he said. “They’re not depriving us of information, they are outright lying.”
On “CBS This Morning,” the network’s political director, John Dickerson, calls the rollout “a total fiasco,” saying the administration is getting into a “credibility death spiral.”
This is, to put it mildly, a very difficult media environment.
To them, the issue is incompetence—an easier target for journalists wary of taking an ideological stance.
Obama’s speech yesterday was not the mea culpa some had predicted. He vowed to fix what he called “kinks” in the system, but generally delivered an upbeat defense of the program.
As liberal Washington Post blogger Ezra Klein tweeted in mid-address, “So far, this seems weirdly similar to the speech Obama would’ve given if the exchanges were working fine.”

This is still wishful thinking. They are still in defend mode. Look at Chuck Todd’s questions @ the presser, such as “Who let the president down?” Really? What if NO ONE let him down but the collapse is his plan to get to Nat health care?

1. Announce in mid-November a commission to define the issues, assign a priority, and discuss solutions by the Tuesday after Thanksgiving.
2. The commission will note all the problems....saying the software platform is a decade old, and would be impractical to run. A whole new platform would be necessary....noting that it would take twelve months to create, test and implement such a new program.
3. The commission will suggest to delay the mandate until March of 2015. The President will delay it until 31 Dec 2014....saying that the commission is the group who led him to this decision.
4. Journalists will ask when the President realized it was screwed up, and the response will be that he “saw it on CNN”.
5. Everything that the Republicans did in the budget stumble....was of no use or value. The President inflicted his own wound this time.....without the aid of the Tea Party.
6. Finally, the $400-million spent on this worthless platform? Well....it ought to be recovered via a court episode, but the dimwits don’t want to enter a court action where the company might admit they paid several hundred thousand in campaign funds to the Democratic Party. The $400 million....is lost forever. And that really is the sad part of the story....the “software bridge to nowhere”.
