If you've got money to spend, farm land is the wise purchase, especially if you believe the economic collapse is closing in upon us.
But you need the "KNOW HOW" to work it, and to work it even without fuel.

I owned two farms over some years. I sold both for a great profit on each, but that was in the 90s.
Today, I would not invest in ANYTHING in the US.
Land is the best investment only in a free and stable society. America is in danger of loosing both.
The best investment now is in being able and ready to flee before SHTF.
