Actor Steve Buscemi has finally broken his silence to tell the world his expert opinion on the government shutdown.
Buscemi opined about the shutdown and much else in a wide-ranging with The Guardian.
I think the shutdown is ridiculous. I think the Republicans in Congress are holding the country hostage. I think its criminal. I dont see why theyre allowed to do it, he said.
Buscemi, 55, said he hopes voters punish the politicians behind the temporary halt of about 17 percent of the federal government at the next possible opportunity.
The tea party faction of the Republican party are holding the Republican party hostage, he explained. Theyve hijacked it. I dont understand their philosophy. I think that in their own hearts and minds theres a reason why they feel theyre doing good. But I certainly dont agree with it. And I hope the shutdown effects change. I hope people remember this in the next cycle of elections.
The Guardian lovingly describes the Brooklynite (who also has a second home in upstate New York) as a blue-collar liberal.
Im not against capitalism, but its another thing to blame the victim, Buscemi told the British daily. A lot of poor people have made something of themselves but nobody does it on their own. Everybody needs help. Theres nothing wrong with having government help, and I think if your goal is only to make money, thats not a worthy goal in and of itself.
The website Celebrity Net Worth values Buscemi at an estimated $35 million. The site says he receives a salary of $75,000 per episode for his work as the lead character on Boardwalk Empire, a pale and generally pointless imitation of The Sopranos.
The idea that the money would trickle down to the poor is condescending, and doesnt work, Buscemi added.
Delving into other areas of politics, the high school graduate and former ice cream van driver took a page out of Thomas Franks prosaically liberal book, Whats the Matter with Kansas?
So many working-class people across the country vote against their own interests, Buscemi explained to his British interviewer. It all comes down to culture wars: the right has always been able to use abortion and gay marriage, and in the past womens rights, but all those things are starting to erode. There really isnt much they can throw up as a smokescreen anymore.
Buscemi also noted that he is somewhat dissatisfied with President Barack Obama and that he didnt have his first girlfriend until he was 22.
Post a photo of him.
Good to see another “noted economic expert” chiming in.
His doctorate in economics is from which school?
Yeah, Stevie, we got that. Didn't hold you back much, did it?
Yes. He is certainly an expert. He’s hoping politicians who try to follow the constitution against their opposition in both Houses and the White House, get punished.
I wonder what his children and grandchildren are going to think about punishing him and us for taking their money?
Man, I was wondering when the ugly-bastard community would share their thoughts on this!
I hope the writers of Boardwalk are Republicans. :)
Steve needs to visit the chipper again, or maybe meet up with some more nihilists.

CONSTITUTION 101
It’s too bad this guy was too stoned to remember Civics Class
Nice guy. A former NYFD fireman who worked the search and rescue after 9-11. But a political moron. Typical hollyweird idjit.
Unless all these rich idiots are willing to give away all of their money to the poor, anything they say makes them hypocrites.
The Guy needs to shut up and act. That’s what he’s paid for.Its no wonder I’ve given up on TV.
Just looked it up.
Valley Stream HS and Nassau Community College.
Lee Strasberg School of Acting.
So. There Ya go.
One of the first things a credible journalist or analyst does, is establish or at least understand what the concerns of the opposition are. Just jumping into name calling and the blame game does not reflect well on the person attempting to make a comment or criticism.
Apparently the writer does not have enough neurons to even understand the issues, or connect the dots.
Consequently the comments are meaningless, copying others, and off the wall!
Isn’t that the guy that played a piece of wood and got chunked into a chipper?
High school diploma. Dropped out of community college during his first semester.
