Bruce Bartlett, who served as domestic policy adviser to President Ronald Reagan and a Treasury official for President George H.W. Bush, told MSNBCs Chris Hayes, host of All in with Chris Hayes, on Friday that the Republican Party has been hijacked by crazy people, stupid people.
Bartlett, who is currently a columnist and blogger for the Fiscal Times, said he wondered why former Treasury secretaries who worked for Republican administrations did not speak out publicly during the budget impasse to tell the GOP that not raising the debt ceiling would be a bad idea.
Bartlett said it was perfectly understandable that some Republican members of Congress might not want to go against the rest of the party and vote for a clean continuing resolution at first, because of the crazy Tea Party people and the fear that they would be challenged in the primaries by Republican candidates backed by people with unlimited resources.

Yes, it’s been hijacked by Democrats!
If this dork really believes this, he’s not really a Republican.
Reagan’s legacy is “The most frightening words in the English language are ‘I am from the government and I am here to help you’ “
This guy didn’t pay attention.
>> Republican Party has been hijacked by crazy people, stupid people.
When you’re on the inside and you benefit from the looting, as does Bartlett — honest, farsighted, concerned Americans who DON’T profit from the beltway corruption must indeed seem crazy and/or stupid.
Oh well. So be it. We’ll look smarter and saner when the revolution ends than we do now, at the beginning.
Is easy to see how far and wide the Oslama talking points spread.
There is a reasoned, intelligent analysis for you. No name-calling, no personal attacks, just cold, hard facts.
He doesn’t like anybody

Naw, these days, he definitely fits the republican pattern... just not the CONSERVATIVE republican pattern.
And the TEA Party wants to drive them out!
Wait a second, just because Mr. McCain is senile it doesn’t make him stupid or crazy Mr. Bartlett.
Keep your GOP.
More people won’t care.
Yes, its been hijacked by Democrats!
Careerist Blue Dog Dems from flyover country. They are all in the GOP tent now that the rabid marxists have taken over the Dems.
Yeah, it’s really crazy to NOT go into more debt even when one cannot begin to figure out how to what they presently owe.
Another person to whom simple math is tensor calculus.
Oops, that’s “...how to PAY what...”
I’m having an Obamadork moment.
Oh, wait, it’s the keyboard’s fault.
Highly paid liberal Republican political consultant lashes aout agaisnt those how object to highly paid liberal Republican political consultants. Yawn.
The MSM like use Bartlett’s bonafides as a Reagan advisor as a springboard to bashing conservatism. He used to be on staff with Ron Paul and GHW Bush.
However, Barlett has been getting crazier and crazier over the years, like the proverbial crazy uncle, and the MSM loves to quote him, as a “conservative”, like the other ex-Reagan nutjob Paul Craig Roberts.
Just because he worked “for Reagan” doesn’t mean anything, really. Elizabeth Dole worked for Reagan, too, yet she’s the one who arbitrarily decided to bypass the legislature and forced the seat belt laws on all the states. Federal government running roughshod over state’s rights.
The T.E.A. party people are the “crazy ones”?
By whose definition?
Just because their response to the actions (or lack thereof) of the House and Senate Republicans to put on a full-court resistance to allowing the “Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010” to be implemented before it was ready for prime time, was sharp and quick, that does not reflect negatively on the state of sanity exhibited by the T.E.A. party people.
The Current Occupant now squatting in the White Hut (or “Spite Hut”) and Harry Reid were the ones who were ADAMANT about not negotiating.
RINOS beginning to suffer from Koch Brothers Derangement Syndrome as well, I see.
