The deal ending the government shutdown included an obscure, one-line change to an unrelated law that increased authorization for spending on a massive water project in Kentucky, the home state of Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell.

Here’s what’s known about the so-called “Kentucky kickback,” a controversy that blew up just as Senate leaders were signing off on a deal to end a government shutdown and avert default on the national debt.

While the Senate had held out for a "clean" bill to fund government in its standoff with the House, the deal that Senate leaders took to the floor on Wednesday included an obscure, one-line change to an unrelated law that increased authorization for spending on a massive water project in Kentucky, the home state of Senate minority leader Mitch McConnell.

Pork bills in a time of such debt should be criminal.

The rest of the country may be scandalized but face it, the people of Kentucky will love stealing other people’s money. It’s OK if it belongs to someone else.

McConnell blamed the rest of the Senate for not taking the pork out, instead of taking the blame for putting it in.

Lying sack of you-know-what.

I live in Louisville, KY, and it’s not OK if it belongs to someone else.

So, we are spending $3billion we don’t have to save $160 million we borrowed... makes sense to me...

Even if it was decided that this was an essential navigation requirement for interstate commerce on the Ohio River, it should have been handled through normal legislation rather than being sneaked through an unrelated bill. And it should be paid for through fees for transport using the locks on the river.

Saved taxpayers 160 million? What an inane argument. Spending $1.00 to save 18 cents.

The dam is probably or possibly needed but so are a lot of things. To do it the way it was done is wrong and we should look hard at senators boxer and alexander as well mCconnell. We can’t do anything about boxer but we can about alexander and mCconnell. All this talk about “Clean Resolutions” and then this. Wher was reid and obama to point out this was not a “clean resolution? Oh, anything that puts us deeper in debt is okay with them.

Good, I hope there are enough people like you in Kentucky to show Washington that the American people can’t be bought.

Someone needs to do a photoshop of Mitch McConnell touting the dam and holding onto children in chains behind him with the caption he sold your children’s future to keep a $176,000 a year job for himself.

It’s called corruption and graft: political payoff to keep a worthless man in office.

Two elections stand between McConnell and another worthless term.

McConnell BARELY won in 2008. If he’s the republican nominee again, he will lose because to conservatives, in a race between McConnell and a democrat, McConnell WILL NOT be the lesser of two evils.”

We need Matt Bevin to defeat McConnell in the primary to keep the seat!

Most people don’t know it, but Kentucky went 63% AGAINST Obama in the last election.

Another aspect to these kickbacks is, it seems that the left never has a problem with it.... ever.

When the ACA passed with not a single R vote, the left had no problem with the “Louisianna purchase” and the Nebraska kickbacks... but Conservatives were all over it, then.

Fast forward to the CR and debt ceiling resolutions last week... again, nothing from leftists on McConnells indiscretion, but hell from us Conservatives.

The left/GOP-e wants this country to economically fail, and whether an earmark goes to a leftist or a GOP-E, they couldn’t care less.

Mitch sold himself for 3,000,000,000 dollars of pork.

Actions define the man, and he is a simple prostitute. Now he awaits his next paying John.
