As gun sales break recordspartly because of fear of coming gun control from the Obama administrationsupplies of ammo ran so low that gun stores and ranges have to ration ammunition. Meanwhile, rumors of mass purchases of ammunition made by government entities began to fly around the Internet. Making all this even worse is that fact that it hasnt been a short-term supply problem. Now well over a year since the shortages of popular types of ammo began there are still empty shelves and rationing here and there around the United States.

If they can't take our guns, they are taking our ammunition so the guns can only be used as clubs... clever way of getting around the 2nd Amendment.

I literally could have told you he was the reason 5 years ago.
I remember in NOV of '08 my Mother went to my Father and I and said "I want a Shotgun for defense, NOW!"
And this is coming from a lady who has Never even held a Gun, we weren't gun people growing up, so that was quite a change for us.

My Bass Pro didn’t have any pistol ammo at all - nothing for .45 GAP/ACP/Colt, .357, .38, 9mm, 10 mm, or anything else in pistol. They had no .22lr, no .223, no 5.56, and none of the other major calibers, but they did have several odd calibers of rifle ammo. They had plenty of birdshot and trap loads, plenty of steel shot, but no defensive loads in 12 ga or 20 ga. They did have lots of guns though, even ARs.

.22LR is tough. I got a thousand rounds from Cabellas but it took some time.
You can call and negotiate price with them as well, depending on the wait.
I got 1500 rounds of .233 20% off ad price. :^)

Not to bad. If you can keep it around 50c a round it is about the best you can do.

I still can’t find reasonably priced 22 rimfire ammo. What was $20 a brick less than 2 years ago is now $80+!

The so-called "experts" have been trying to explain away ammo shortages as training and carry ammo for DHS, Border Patrol, FBI, and other agents. Okay, great...that explains shortages of .40 cal., 9mm and maybe .45 ACP. But what about the government orders for .30-30? 7.62x39? .30-06? Most of all, what about the absolute dearth of .22LR?
I'm starting to think the industry is under government threat if they spill the beans that, as we suspect, the government is buying up all the ammo.
