Anti-Bullying Programs Backfire, Used as Excuse to Censor Conservative Speech
Cybercast News Service ^ | October 18, 2013 - 2:45 PM | Hans Bader

Countless tax dollars have been spent on anti-bullying programs, and 49 states have anti-bullying laws. After New Jersey passed a broad anti-bullying law, hundreds of schools “snapped up a $1,295 package put together by a consulting firm that includes a 100-page manual.”

But a University of Texas researcher found that anti-bullying programs increase bullying, and “actually teach students different bullying techniques—and even educate about new ways to bully” classmates.

The term “bullying” is increasingly being used as an excuse for censorship of speech protected by the First Amendment, such as anti-abortion advocacy, publicly revealing the names of students who vandalized a pro-life exhibit, student newspaper editorials criticizing gay marriage, and criticism of shoddy academic research on subjects such as the history of firearms. …

It is part of the Gay Agenda.

Back-door to shutting down freedom of speech where talking about queers is concerned.

The artice mentions a researcher who has evidence that the anti-bullying programs increase bullying.

He was stunned because the results were unwanted.

Now he’s gotta prepare for something else he doesn’t want: The anti-bullies will destroy him for showcasing their failures.

Precisely. No one (except individual parents of course) gave a rip about kids getting picked on until it was about the whole gay thing. That's what this movement is ALL about.

And as a side note, "bullying" just sounds so lame and 2nd-grade. Why not use adult words like intimidation?

I think we agree that he is in the process (or will be) of learning a whole new lesson on what it is like to be "bullied".

That's often the result of anti-this or anti-that edumacation. Curious kids learn naughty stuff they never had dreamed of.

This is approaching the issues the WRONG way. What will get students respecting one another is love. The love of God, to be exact. If there HAS to be specific anti-bully intervention, then do it on a case by case basis. Don't teach about a kind of bullying that hasn't even happened.

Anti-Bullying Programs Backfire, Used as Excuse to Censor Conservative Speech

Since when is that a backfire? I thought suppression of conservatives was the whole purpose behind the campaign.

The backfire has to do with bullies actually learning how to be better bullies via the anti-bullying program rather than the program being used for suppression of free speech. I think the authors need to review the definition of a run-on sentence here, with respect to article titles . . .

Seriously, I think it is one in the same -- I think that this was the goal all along.

Think about it: all conservative speech is, according to this new, improved paradigm of social acceptability, considered "hate speech" and "bullying."

Simultaneously, efforts to shout down dissent (a/k/a conservative moral principles), harass and/or physically attack those who express those principles, and to focus public attention upon those who hold those principles for the purpose of swarming is not considered bullying -- rather, it is considered a public service and a charitable attempt to re-educate the so-called "malefactor" so he/she can be re-integrated into modern, sensitive, diverse society.

Bullying. Something that has been around for as long as humans have existed.

I’ve lived in an era where bullying was accepted as one of life’s hazards and we (males) were expected to actually do something about it....PHYSICALLY! I have had the opportunity to give several bullys an “attitude adjustment” on several occasions. Once they cleaned the blood off their noses they were amazingly transformed into normal people.

However, that was back in the stone ages that left us after 1970 and now we only have little sissyfied boys who won’t stand up for themselves due to the physiological castration of today’s males and the belief that the natural act of protecting the weaker generation (females) is sexist and no longer allowed.

It is amazing to watch our social fabric deteriorate to the extent that it is expected that both children and adults cower in fear of anyone (or anything...guns for example) that scare them. They now wait for the nanny state to protect them from daily events of all kinds rather than take matters into their own hands (which is now illegal).

We have gone so far to the left in raising our children that when they actually enter the real world they are totally unprepared for the reality that the world is full of bullys...and that will never change.

A perfect example of a world full of bullys is the Democrat party and it’s ugly head....Obama....the poster boy for bullys.

Next they should teach kids how to pull off a slick mugging and how to beat the crap out of old people to prevent those things from ever happening.

Or they could prevent rape by showing them how real rapists do it.

Or how to hold up convenience stores and how to determine if the owner is armed.

Not surprising ,, the “DARE” antidrug program has been shown to increase drug awareness and usage among young teens ... I believe it is simply the local police departments grooming kids to be future drug criminals ... without people to arrest they lose jobs in enforcement and corrections.
