Advocates of recreational marijuana use are looking to an upcoming vote in Maine as an indicator of whether the East Coast is ready to follow in the footsteps of Colorado and Washington by legalizing cannabis.
Voters in Portland are being asked whether they want to make it legal for adults 21 and over to possess -- but not purchase or sell -- up to 2.5 ounces of pot. The Nov. 5 vote is being eyed nationally as momentum grows in favor of legalizing marijuana use.

I don’t agree with pot legalization but I admire that Libertarians listen to their base, don’t bash them and use both political parties to advance their agenda.

It's easy to accuse a thing because it can't defend it's existence, and you justify your correctness by it's silence.
So your vision of Liberty tolerates (or even embraces) the notion of imprisoning an individual simply because they possess (or, God forbid, smoke) the wrong plant?
That's why both mainstream parties are an absolute joke with respect to Liberty: they simply argue about whose version of Tyranny should be imposed. The Constitution-trampling Drug War fascists have done more damage than most of the societal villains they decry.
The notion of someone's right to be left alone, to pursue happiness as they see fit, has been almost totally obliterated, and we are left with zealots on both sides of the fake political spectrum who must save everybody from themselves.
The average American has gone so far down this road of collectivist authoritarianism (and its associated Constitution-destroying consequences) that they have virtually no awareness of what real Freedom actually encompasses.
As long as someone is not committing crimes of force or fraud against another in furtherance of their bad habits, they have every right to make what others might perceive as bad choices, without having their freedom taken from them or their property confiscated.

Unfortunately people high on drugs like pot impose their behavior on others.

God’s gift was to plant an herb that we would figure out how to smoke and then get tired, dry-mouthed, red-eyed, and laugh at stupid things? Now, I know that smoking pot isn’t listed in the Bible as a sin (unless you believe the take that sorcery mentioned in the bible is indeed drugs)and I don’t think all pot smokers are bad people at all, but I can’t get with the mindset that God created it for our enjoyment (maybe cause it wasn’t my drug of choice in my youth lol) any more than I think He did with cigarettes because we all know how bad for you and addictive it is.
It's been legal for almost a year in WA and CO, so we are testing whether that leads to problems such as increased crime and traffic deaths. AFAIK, they've not fallen apart.

Doesn’t matter where its legal, not all drug users are responsible. Some drug users are vicious, bottom feeding scum who the taxpayer funds them because they can’t take care of themselves and taxpayers fund govt agencies because the drug users impose their behavior on others.
As long as taxpayers are subsidizing the bad consequences of pot legalization then I can’t support legalizing it. Take away taxpayer involvement and you’ll have my support.

If man weren't "fallen," it wouldn't be complicated. But hormones etc. blow temptation way out of proportion.

There are 2 issues I addressed not just the one that concerned you. Just because I don’t focus on the one does not mean I don’t care about it.
But you don’t mind when $2k/hr helicopter fuel is burned to pull ditch weed. Or multimillion dollar prosecutions and punishments for cultivating for personal use? Your tax payer outrage is misdirected.

It’s a two part question when considered with the commerce clause. A; Does a state have a right to decriminalize marijuana? B; Does a state have a right to tax a regulate a marijuana industry?
Since I never addressed that your assumption is in your own mind.
