Selling the American people on ObamaCare was always going to be a big challenge. That's why it was passed all but in the middle of the night. Now, with the number of people who say they will opt out of ObamaCare and pay the fine instead growing - the selling of ObamaCare is only going to become more difficult, not less.

In 2016, the fine on $50,000 will be $1250.
"The [penalty] fee in 2014 is 1% of your yearly income or $95 per person for the year, whichever is higher. The fee increases every year. In 2016 it is 2.5% of income or $695 per person, whichever is higher.
In 2014 the payment for uninsured children is $47.50 per child. The most a family would have to pay in 2014 is $285.
You make the payment when you file your 2014 taxes, which are due in April 2015."
I don’t even think they’ll go to that trouble; they will just go directly into your bank account.
Then number who will pay the fine is going to go up astronomically as people find out what their premiums are going to be to buy mandated Obamacare policies.
Or Christian Science.
If you make too much for a subsidy but insurance isn’t affordable for you, then there is no penalty assessed. I think many Freepers may fit this criteria.
I call it “DemocratCare”, and we should all be calling it that for the next two election cycles.
Why? It looks like a blatant rip-off of RomneyCare.
And in this case what can be more just?
From you and me. You know, productive people. It's all part of our 'skin in the game', dontcha see?
If the government is so caring of the public and wants the best for us, why did they hire such a funky company to create the Obamacare web site?
Clever, but not an answer.
Wishful thinking. If you’re against Obamacare, you’re against “Healthcare”, didn’t you get the memo?. They always use the term Healthcare, even the idiot Republicans.
Now, what Low Information Voter would support some MEAN REPUBLICAN who was against Healthcare?
The battle has been lost. The last two years of the Obama Administration, with the Rats running the House and Senate is almost a slam dunk IMHO. Then Hillary takes the mantle.
Game over, and we can’t Nuke it from Space just to be sure.
Can you tell me where you found that rule?
Who decides what’s affordable?
And how many hoops is someone required to jump through in order to prove they can’t afford to pay?
I believe affordable is considered to be less than 8% of your income. If you’re older, the rates are ridiculously high and definitely not affordable. I believe I saw this on either the Bezerkley healthcare calculator or the one on the Kaiser Foundation website.
Actually, Americans will choose to incur the fines. Means will develop for never actually paying them.
If no taxes are over withheld, there can be no actual payment.
