Fans of Disney/ABC’s “Once Upon a Time” were recently let in on Mulan’s “dirty little secret.” Mulan is a bisexual.
Normally I would not have a problem with a bisexual character in a prime time show that was scheduled for later in the evening, but for starters this show airs on Sunday nights at 7PM Central, and it is touted as a family show. It is Disney after all and inspired by Disney characters.
The Huffington Post reports gloats:
New ground was broken this week when a member of Disney’s iconic Princess franchise was queered and it was revealed that Mulan is bisexual.
The hit Disney-ABC series “Once Upon A Time” functions under the premise that classic icons from various fairy tales have been transported to a “real world” town and have lost all memories of their former lives due to a powerful curse.
On this past Sunday’s episode, Mulan quietly revealed her unrequited love for “Sleeping Beauty” princess Aurora in a heartbreaking scene that can be viewed above. During the show’s previous season, Mulan also developed feelings for Prince Phillip.
As a show that is being marketed to families I happen to have a problem with this characterization. Parents should not be blind-sided with this sort of thing and frankly I expect more from Disney.
Parents can raise their children however they want to raise them. My beef is that this came from out of nowhere and lots of people would have liked to be able to keep their kids from seeing this. Ali watches this show occasionally but I do not. I have seen it once or twice in passing. I do know that I wouldn’t want to have a conversation with one of my kids about why Mulan is in love with Sleeping Beauty, unless I had time to prepare for it.
As for the Huffington Post. They make me puke. The use of the word “heartbreaking” is a little over the line. She finds out her love is pregnant and it breaks her little heart. So what?
The truth is that Mulan was going into a situation as a home-wrecker in the first place. Apparently Sleeping Beauty is in some kind of committed relationship here. I don’t really want my kids learning that lesson either from a Disney Princess.
There is a big difference between acknowledging that LGBT people exist and promoting the lifestyle. I don’t think making Disney Princesses into bisexuals is about raising awareness, I think it is about promoting the lifestyle.
One of the hallmarks of the communist movement has always been to break down society by making things like homosexuality acceptable while discrediting Christian teachings. We look around and see socialism overtaking our country yet anytime I mention something like this I am labeled a bigot. To me it is about consistency.
The Bible does not teach me to hate someone who might happen to love a person of the same sex, but it certainly does not promote this lifestyle either. That would be the job of the media it would seem.
We have a President in the White House who has definitely shown some homosexual tendencies in the past. The woman that is likely to be our next president has been labeled a bisexual. This is what we are getting from the left. This is what they want. Yet anyone who dares say something about it is automatically labeled a bigot. When society would rather defend Barack Obama than Jesus Christ I see a real problem.

I watch this show as it’s *usually* family friendly and well written. I didn’t pick up on this when I watched it. She had shown that she liked Prince Phillip in the last season, so that’s what I thought she was going to talk to Aurora about. I was naive, I guess. I went online after the show and the liberals over on the TWOP forums were beside themselves with glee, although a few misunderstood as I did. They think this is so progressive and groundbreaking. They love it. I went over to Hollywood Life and saw an article about this. One woman was gushing that this gave her a perfect opportunity to explain to her daughter what same sex love is and told her she could be a lesbian if she wanted like her favorite Disney princesses.
ABC is so liberal. There is another show I watch called Switched At Birth. The show started out well, but it’s being used more and more to promote a liberal agenda. Teen sex is on the show. The one character is a high school student who has had, at my last count, at least 8 different boyfriends and has slept with at least two of them. The other is also a high school student who was a virgin. The other young characters would act surprised upon finding out she was a virgin. They recently did away with her virginity, though. It was “safe” sex, so all good, right? The oldest boy was marrying a girl who was saving sex for marriage but decided to throw that out the window the night before the wedding.
The one family is Republican, and the dad became a state senator. He decided to lend his support to an abstinence only part of an education bill. The one girl who has had at least 8 boyfriends, works at her dad’s office, and is dating a British socialist says kids are going to have sex anyway and should know how to protect themselves. It turned out that the Republican leading the charge on this abstinence only bill was a scumbag who was cheating on his wife.
The one girl who was switched at birth (the girl with 8 past boyfriends opposed to abstinence only education) toldher birth family of Republicans who are wealthy that where you are in life is often just dumb luck.
Another storyline is that the other father had a one night stand, and his baby was given up against his will. It turns out the baby was given to two gay men who are shown to be ideal fathers. The man got his baby back and decided to give the baby back to the gay couple because they are better parents.
On it goes.
Don’t forget ABC Family has a show called The Fosters where a biracial lesbian couple is raising three children. I saw a liberal praising the show on the TWOP forums. You see, the TWOP forums are populated by liberals, and they have a huge obsession with the Duggar family. They have close to 60,000 posts on the Duggars, the majority negative. They feel so much more enlightended than those “fundie,” conservative Duggars. One liberal was saying the Duggars should see The Fosters where two women are raising three children and provide condoms for the kids. I guess that’s good parenting right there.
And to think, the family channel was originally the Christian Broadcasting Network(CBN).
