Cory Booker to conduct same-sex marriages in New Jersey

(CNN) - Senator-elect Cory Booker will move forward with his support of same-sex marriage even before he is sworn in, with plans to grant the marriages of several same-sex couples 12:01 a.m. Monday after a court ruling goes into effect.

The story was first reported by Buzzfeed. The New Jersey Democrat, who's the mayor of Newark, re-tweeted that article to his celebrity-sized Twitter crowd of 1.4 million followers.

According to Buzzfeed, Booker will recognize the weddings of at least 10 same-sex couples at Newark City Hall.

The weddings will come after a New Jersey judge ruled last month that the already legal civil unions in the state didn't go far enough because they prevented couples from getting federal benefits. In her ruling, the judge cited the June Supreme Court decision that overturned a key part of the federal Defense of Marriage Act.

“How does our marriage affect you negatively in any way?”

In 10 years the pedophiles will be asking the same question

It is abnormal, the human body was not built for it. It is totally unnatural.

It is a mental illness. When people define their whole lives by their sexual preferences and feel the need to indoctrinate children and have it celebrated by government edict and to punish those who disagree there is something seriously wrong with them.

Yes, it is a mental illness.

Yes, when they indoctrinate children and promote it to children, it does affect others. When people are being punished by law for not approving of it, it does affect others. When they are parading around in the nude and whacking off at the "Pride" parades in front of kids, it affects others.

We call this homofascism.

It’s also difficult to stand on the traditional definition of marriage because I (and 50% of most others) happened to be divorced.

and you define your whole existence by divorce? You attend Divorce Pride parades? You want to shove it down the throats of children and even promote divorce in schools? You think people who disagree should be punished by law? Do you wallow in your sin?

There is a huge difference.

"We call this homofascism."

That's about the best term I've heard for it. Homofascism it is.

These are good points. There is clearly a diffrence there, thanks. Someone else made a good point about the legal force of the situation being pushed on society. That pisses me off more than anything and I like that argument too.

It’s better than the few non-trusting souls who would rather cast aspersions on my motivations than actually provide advice. I’ve lurked on this site since before the days of “belly girl” and it still shocks me how MEAN people get when it APPEARS that someone may not agree 100% with their position. Stop and think. This does not advance our cause.

I suspect if we used real names here, people would be more polite. I’ve seen that on other boards based on other topics, but I know it’ll never happen here.
