Jim DeMint: We Won't Back Down on ObamaCare
wsj.com ^ | October 17, 2013 | Jim DeMint

Posted on 10/17/2013 11:19:12 PM PDT by Tailgunner Joe

We know that premiums are going up due to ObamaCare—Americans are getting notices in their mailboxes every day. On Wednesday, Drew Gonshorowski of the Center for Data Analysis at the Heritage Foundation published research that shows exchange premiums are going up in all but five states. In North Carolina, for example, many consumers will find their premiums almost double when shopping on the government exchanges. The hardest-hit states, such as Georgia, Arizona, Vermont and North Dakota, will see premium increases of up to 150%.

Mr. Gonshorowski's research shows that the hardest hit by the increases will be young adults. "A state that exhibits this clearly is Vermont," he writes, "where the increase for 27-year-olds is 144 percent and the increase for 50-year-olds is still 60 percent, but far less. All states exhibit this relationship."

We also know that, once established, the cost of ObamaCare's new entitlements will not fall. Historical evidence suggests the opposite. Nearly 50 years ago, at the time of Medicare's enactment, it was projected that the federal government would spend $9 billion on Part A hospital services in 1990. Actual spending in that year totaled $67 billion—an increase of 644% compared with initial estimates.

Likewise, government officials originally projected that Medicare Part B physician services would require "federal appropriations of about $500 million a year from general tax revenues." Last year, the federal outlay for that program was $163.8 billion—overshooting the original estimate by more than 4,400%.

Given this track record, the Congressional Budget Office's projection that ObamaCare will cost "only" $250 billion (you read that right: a quarter-trillion dollars) a decade from now seems far-fetched.

There's a reason Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid recently claimed that ObamaCare will lead to a single-payer health-care system: It happens to be true.

It takes a lot of effort to pay attention to politics. Freepers pay more attention than most Americans and even with this, many of them miss details.

Now think about how informed the average American would be. It’s pretty scary how easily they can be manipulated.

Just an update from The Wise I.

A Facebook friend posted a screen capture of his premium BEFORE Obamacare and the one after.

So I did some studying, says The Wise I, who, in a former life, was an ersatz payroll/benefit manager.

His premium HAD BEEN, I round off, around $300 a month. His NEW premium was about $1,000 a month.

Of course, as Obama is hastened to add, the fellow was eligible for a subsidy which would have reduced his monthly premium down to around $300 a month.

But here’s what else they don’t tell you.

Never mind the $12,000 a year premium pricetag that this company offered, he had, get this....a $2,500 deductible!

He had a $1,000 deductible on prescriptions!

He had a co-pay of 30% and don’t forget this includes the HOSPITAL BILL. 30% of a big hospital bill is huge.

Now it did have a cap on out of pocket expenses for a year, something around $5,000, although I hasten to add I’ve been hearing stories that the cap, a requirement of Obamacare as it passed, might be removed. Those caps are important, more on this later.

So this fellow has to pay $1200 a year for the premium, after his subsidy runs out, I get this. BUT he will have to pay almost $5,000 regardless of the subsidy, before he gets any coverage!

My husband and I both had a heatlh crisis one year with him going into the hospital for almost two months...a brain infection of all things. I had a heart bypass.

The hospitals bills for both of us came to half a million, I’m not making this up.

Our health insurance at the time was through husband’s job, a private insurer, which wasn’t the best insurance in the world; it had high deductibles and that sort of thing but it had the most wonderful cap on out of pocket expenses of around $3,500, which did go up for the couple of years later that we had the plan, but that cap was precious.

Whatever, I could sleep at night cause without that cap I’d have had to pay 20$ of that half million hospital bill (our copay at the time was 20%) which would have been $100,000, figure it out, and they would have made me pay it.

This thing is going to destroy our economy and cause the dumb people who think this thing is free to riot in the streets.

As an added editorial, then I shall shut up, this is why the House Repubs did the right thing. They are on record as fighting this thing tooth and nail and no media screeching is ever going to overcome the horrible way all of us are going to suffer for this.

The Repubs will be the heroes, except the RINOS of course.

Some hospitals are asking that the deductible be paid up front before major care. Imagine a 28 year old coughing up $5,000 to get health care. 80% or more wont be able to scape up this money.

I hope the Heritage Foundation opens a website that publishes reports of ObamaCare RipOffs.

And the kids that voted for Obama need to know that he sold them out for cash received from Insurance Company lobbyists and fatcats.

“They’ve been cleaning the Repubs’ clocks when it comes to elections over the last few years...”

Then explain how the Republicans control 26 states while the rats control 11. Living in liberal New Jersey is overwhelming your reasoning faculties.

Oh people, people. Don't get your panties in a bunch. God tells us in the book of Revelation 9:21, "Neither repented they of their murders, nor of their sorceries, nor of their fornication, nor of their thefts."
The word sorceries comes from the Greek word pharmakeia which is the root word in English for the word pharmaceutical (Oh I know. Some egghead will try to twist and spin this reality but the point's made.). We're NOT going to be able to get away from obamacare and what it morphs into. The people of this nation are unwilling to repent and to turn away from evil. Isaiah speaks of this time and the sorceries of this time as well.
God promises in 2 Chronicles 7:14 to heal our land if we will just repent - "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." Problem is His people are afraid to manifest who and what they are.
They sit on their laurels and figure that God is speaking of some other people and some other land and some other generation, not open to accept that the United States of America is the ONLY country in the history of man that was founded on Christian principles. The US is the ONLY country that's ever called herself a "Christian" nation. And NOW this nation is denying this fact. Like it or not Jesus Christ IS God. Christians are not only "His" people. We are His bride.

The end is near. A remnant of us have trimmed our lamps, stood fast in His lordship and awaited the days that are now upon us. If you are one of us you know of what I say.
The simpletons of the world are too lazy to fight the good fight. They are ashamed to call good good and evil evil. They find it easier to call good evil and evil good. As scripture says "Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!" Their woes are just beginning. It would have been better for them had they never known the goodness of God and Christ.

Pass the popcorn. Things are going to get interesting.

It’s very simple for TEA party advocates.

As long as the problems won’t go away neither will the opposition. And with Obama, there are always problems.

Obama’s re-election showed just how desperate and ignorant voters are, and I don’t see Republicans doing anything constructive about that.

Obama's reelection marked a tipping point in national politics. The Dems are the permanent majority party, at least on the national level. We have entered the era of tribal politics.

Immigration since the 1965 Immigration Act has changed the demographics of America forever. In 1970 one in 21 was foreign born in this country. Today it is one in 8, the highest it has been in 90 years. And within the next decade it will be one in 7, the highest in our history.

87% of the 1.2 million legal permanent immigrants who enter annually are minorities. By 2019 half of the children 18 and under will be minorities as classified by the USG. Each cohort that turns 18 is more Democrat than the previous one.

This has electoral consequences. Romney won the non-Hispanic white vote with 59% of the vote. He won it in every age group and by gender. In other times, Romney would have won easily. However, only 66% of the electorate is now non-Hispanic white compared to the 89% in 1970. Obama won Hispanics with 71%, Asians with 73%, and blacks with 95%.

At least in terms of future Presidential elections, the Dems have a lock on the WH no matter who runs or how bad the policies of Obama are. The GOP's main hope is taking control of Congress--at least in the short run. If we don't curtail the current immigration levels, then the Dems will be the permanent majority party at every level.

The Gang of 8 bill in the Senate increases the number of legal immigrants over the next ten years to 33 million compared to the 13.9 million who entered during the decade that ended in 2010. It just so happens that the last decade was the highest in American history in terms of the number of immigrants. And this doesn't include the doubling of the number of guest workers increasing the numbers from 700,000 to 1.4 million a year. Demography is destiny.

I’m curious, what exactly do you see happening if indeed the Republicans “take” the Senate in 2014?

Any answers yet? I agree, nothing will happen. Without super majority, we are powerless against this dictator King Obama and his powerful communists structure.

And my deductible is yearly. Is this deductible once for life if the same treatment for same health problem. If you have to change hospitals, $5000 again? Lots of questions.
