Republican congressman: It was worth the fight

Rep. Mick Mulvaney, a tea party firebrand, said Thursday the fight that led to a government shutdown was worth it, but he acknowledged the GOP's messaging wasn't as effective.

"Anytime you fight for something you really believe in and something you think is important, then the fight is going to be worth it," the South Carolina Republican said on CNN's "New Day."

Mulvaney was part of a group of House conservatives that tried to tie anti-Obamacare provisions to must-pass legislation in a strategy spearheaded by Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas. Senate Democrats and the White House, however, didn't budge, and the stalemate resulted in the government shutdown that lasted 16 days.

Multiple polls showed that both major political parties suffered in public opinion, but Republicans, including tea party conservatives, lost slightly more support than Democrats. A Pew Research Center poll conducted October 9 through Sunday indicated 49% of Americans said they have a negative view of the tea party, a slight rise of four percentage points from June.

Three in 10 questioned said they see the tea party in a positive light, down seven points from June.

But Mulvaney argued their message simply "didn't get out as effectively as we wanted it to."

"We fought for fairness. We wanted our families to be treated the same as large corporations under Obamacare," he told CNN's Kate Bolduan. "In hindsight, yes, if you stand up for what you believe in, I think you'll always end up on the right side of things."

Didn’t Rasmussen and Gallop surveys report that Republicans faired slightly better about a week ago?

Obama, who even CNN says did not budge will be seen as the bad guy by the American people as he refused to negotiate and the Tea Party few who stood strong will be seen as the heroes.

I think the media and the RINOs are, if I may borrow the democrat post-shutdown mantra of the week, manufacturing a crisis within the Conservative branch of the republican party.

They are afraid. The left is afraid. If the left thought the conservative movement was going to help the dems win seats in Nov 2014, they’d keep their mouths shut about it.

Multiple polls showed...

Let's see.

The Dem and RINO politicians lie.

The media lies.

Yet the polls bought and paid for by the lying media, who push the lying Dems and RINOs, are telling the truth??

Forget phony media paid for polls.

Here's a recent real poll.

Unabashed tea party conservative Steve Lonegan in deep blue NJ got 44% of the vote.

Face it. Obama was going to shove Obamacare down our throats at all expenses because he is following orders from another higher authority. Obamacare is simply a pretext loaded with hidden goodies to turn the U.S. socialist and enroll us into the New World Order. This would have sounded like conspiracy nut madness 5 years ago but here we are where The Book told us we would be approximately 2000 years ago. If anything watch the Left get weak at the knees as they realize the Bible already predicted this long ago and that God may exist after all. If not I hope they have heavily shielded flame retardant suits ready.

to paraphrase an oft quoted insight into lies and liars:

there are lies, damn lies, and then there are statistics; but the devil’s very own instrument is the poll.

It absolutely WAS worth the fight. Now, even the thickest scumbag Democrat voters and the most ignorant morons of the chattering class know EXACTKY who wants Obamacare, and who is against Obamacare. There will not be any confusion about that whatsoever when the next election rolls around.

It didn’t help that you had “messengers” like Juanita McCain carrying water for Obama.

GOPe’rs didn’t get behind the plan because they didn’t think of it and were jealous of the attention Cruz and Lee were getting.

Damn them all to hell!

He was one of the most extraordinary human beings the world has ever known. Born into the family of a Boston candle maker, Benjamin Franklin became the most famous American of his time. He helped found a new nation and defined the American character. Writer, inventor, diplomat, businessman, musician, scientist, humorist, civic leader, international celebrity . . . genius!

Stad up and be counted!
