Politics: With the budget deal done, President Obama is pivoting to immigration in a gambit to distract from his economic failures and divide the GOP. But is it good for the country?
For a leader who's dispensed so much bad medicine to his country from the botched rollout of health reform to the endless debt debacle over government spending it's almost surreal to see him make his next priority amnesty for illegal immigrants, an idea about as popular with the public as ObamaCare.
But that's Obama's agenda, and the only thing we can conclude is that immigration reform is something that he thinks will help him, not the country.
After all, he seems to want to resurrect, with a few tweaks, an immigration bill that failed in the House earlier this year.
That legislation would open the country to millions of foreigners who have broken the law in entering the U.S. and enable them to compete with American workers for scarce jobs.
More to the point, newly legalized entrants will also be rewarded with welfare opportunities and ObamaCare subsidies.
According to a recent study by the Heritage Foundation, illegals will likely drain $6.3 trillion more from the system than they contribute after 13 years, a function of their new eligibility for welfare benefits.
Eligibility for ObamaCare subsidies alone should add several billion to the ObamaCare tab, especially if their work permits do not actually exempt them from buying the overpriced policies altogether. Score one for the illegals over the natives on that one, too.
All of this comes as the public is fed up with the lack of leadership on fiscal issues and jobs, not to mention ObamaCare's failed rollout, in Washington.

When has he ever done anything that wasn’t politically self-serving?
Exactly never.
BOHICA!!! Here comes Barry again!
When this fails he will grant amnesty to all the illegals citing that he had to do what congress refuses to do.
For my patriotic, civic duty to hold down government waste, I will be calling my GOP congressmen, telling them don’t waste time or energy debating the issue - just pass it and move on to the next surrender.
One day everythings going to catch up with him and I have a feeling its going to end something like Hitler in his Fuhrerbunker (they did build 0 a new bunker recently)
I firmly believe that this is the hill all conservatives should be prepared to die on.

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.
[but hes not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
