As part of the deal to end the government shutdown and extend the debt limit, the House and Senate have agreed to begin long-stalled budget negotiations. The conferees planned to meet Thursday morning for breakfast—to “break the ice,” the Associated Press reported.

Once the actual talks get underway, President Obama will insist that tax hikes be part of the solution.

“The president has insisted that in the budget negotiations that he’s been calling for all year, everything has to be on the table. And that will be his position going forward,” White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters on Wednesday. …

How nice. “Charm offensive” part deux—more offense given to the taxpayers, and of course more jobs moved overseas.

He’s insisting on these hikes because he’s so fiscally responsible. /S

The problem with him and his crew, is that increased revenues just provide the government with a bigger base to exceed by deficit spending. They also choke off the economy, and often produce less revenue than before, but they are perceived as “fairer.”

They wouldn’t be French Republicans then.

Obama Will Insist on Tax Hikes in Budget Deal

Let's save some time - Have Weeper Boehner and McConnell report to the white hut and bend over right now - in the end, that's what they'll do anyway.

Raise taxes? Will it collapse us? I’m getting to the point where I hope so.

It's kind of funny in an end-of-the-nation kind of way. The RINOs who serve only their globalist and corporate friends are the ones who caved on Obamacare. And now Obama's going to *itch-slap them with taxes on "millionaires and billionaires" (are we going to have to listen to that again)

Thus, the people who sabotaged conservatives are going to pay for Obamacare with higher taxes!

Remember that conservatives supported them when the issue was to not raise taxes on wealthier people. Hmmmm.........

Thanks Pubblies. You not only destroy your own party, but you’ll cave again and allow more taxes to be heaped upon us.

The Tea Party badly needs to assemble another rally in DC to remind these people we are at our limits.

Gallows humor. But it was kinda funny the way you put it. It took a lot to make me laugh this morning. Thanks for that one. :)

Well, I INSIST that Senators Cruz and Lee and Rep Gohmert be on the ‘special committee’ to negotiate a budget or anything else. I don’t trust McConnell, Gramnesty, McLame, Cornyn, Corker, Collins, Ayotte, Boehner, etc., etc. to negotiate in the best interests of me, my family and/or my country.

Better yet just have them go home. They don't serve any purpose.

“Will it collapse us”

The real question is when will our debt cause us real, right-now-today, problems, or shall we say when will we “run out of money”

An answer is seen to day, as the Chinese lowered our credit rating. Here’s their reason:

“The fundamental situation that the debt growth rate significantly outpaces that of fiscal income and gross domestic product remains unchanged,” Dagong said in the statement, adding Washington’s solvency was vulnerable as old debts were still repaid through raising new debts.

“Hence the government is still approaching the verge of default crisis, a situation that cannot be substantially alleviated in the foreseeable future,” it said.

That sort of thing will make America’s cost to borrow go up, which is the real way we will “run out of money”.

Obama pretty much has to seek tax increases. Boy I hope he doesn’t get them.

Apologies for the rant - I’m ticked this a.m. and had to get it out. Thanks for reading - or just skip over my post below.

“Once the actual talks get underway, President Obama will insist that tax hikes be part of the solution.”

“The president has insisted that in the budget negotiations that he’s been calling for all year, everything has to be on the table. And that will be his position going forward,” White House spokesman Jay Carney told reporters on Wednesday. …

First, the top earners got a tax hike last January (IIRC it was those making more than $400k).

Second, while I avoid listening to Obummer as much as possible, I do read FR and other online news and watch FNC, so hear/read at least some of what he has to say. Did I somehow miss that “the _resident has been calling for budget negotiations all year”, or did I just forget? Were tax hikes included in the ridiculous budget that he FINALLY sent to Congress and no one discussed them because his budget was so far fetched?

That’s right Obummer, put tax hikes on Americans that now see their health insurance costs go through the roof, losing jobs and/or having their hours cut because of YOUR socialzed medicine plan; and, companies moving offices and manufacturing overseas because the corporate tax rate is as high or higher here than anywhere in the world. Oh, and then let us pay tax credits and various benefits to the illegal aliens you want to grant amnesty to.

[rant off]
Best,
SC

I agree with Obama. Hike the taxes - high! The higher the better. Give Obama what he wants.

Republicans ought to say the the MSM and the American people are infatuated with Obama and so they won’t stand in his way one moment longer.

Let the people get what they want.
