The Associated Press has declared Newark Mayor Cory Booker the winner in Wednesday's special U.S. Senate election.
Booker defeated former Bogota Mayor Steve Lonegan, a Tea Party Republican, to serve out the remainder of the late Frank Lautenbergs term.
Although the race was close early on, Democrats were quick to declare Booker the winner. Only 40 minutes after polls closed at 8 p.m., the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee was declaring victory. A short time later, state Sen. Barbara Buono, who is running against Governor Christie in the Nov. 5 election, offered her congratulations to Booker.
Look at the points spread. Nobody expected Lonegan to win.
In two weeks, look at the points spread between Christie and what's-her-name.
Here’s to hope!
Booker 56% Lonegan 43% with 75% of precincts reporting.
I voted for Steve. I was proud to do so.
I’m originally from MA, but married NJ. I’ve never heard anyone from NJ say Joisy! You got a problem with that? ( joking)
I live in a small town in Essex County. (Glen Ridge - about 12 miles from NYC the way the birds fly.) A small town with gas lamps, and it used to be very conservative. However, in the past years there has been an influx of NYers, and the Dems have taken over. We are very much aware of the mess that Newark is in, and I will be curious as to the vote count in this town. Not that we would make any difference. In a Prez election-— fageddaboudit!
The voting place I went to covered several districts, and there were only a few people there. I am curious as to the turnout %. If the town has a lot of Dems, they probably don’t give a darn for Lonegan, even if they don’t like Booker.
There is always Hillary’s victory in 2016 to look forward to

They are black. Would elect the devil himself if he was boack.
Snooki? I want to know how lautenberg voted.
That’s true. And some people ask why I left America a few years ago. I love it when people say, but you live in Red China. At least the Chinese are trying to initiate more free market reforms, meanwhile the US government’s reforms are wiping out the free market.
And I want to know how many times he voted.
Oh yeah, the Republicans have a good shot at keeping the House and taking the Senate in 2014. Wishful thinking...
Game over, ignorant and stupid wins and there are no signs that fact will change any time soon.
Let’s face it, we are simply outnumbered. There is no Silent Majority to get us out of this mess.
I hear ya, but I think the answer here is not to hunker down.... It’s time to get in the rhinos faces.
This was inevitable.... They wanted to lose from jump. We had a handful of brave patriots who wanted to do what was right for their country, but the rest were uncomfortable with the fight.
Now is the time to turn up the heat on these a$$holes and let them know that election time is coming.
Tomorrow:
Donate whatever you can to Ted Cruz, Mike Lee & co
Call your worthless congressmen and senators and let them know you have a long memory
Donate to the senate conservatives fund
Donate to the heritage foundation
Then follow through.
Lets roll!
Ann was praising McConnell??? Damn her, wtf?
Don’t Worry Cripple, that is cash they took from you in the first place, so Ubama ain’t too worried.
Look at their constituency.
I hadn't thought of that. Hopefully whoever runs against Booker will expose him early on for the creep he is. Booker had ads four months ago.
Christie will never allow it. He can’t let another Jersey Republican take the spotlight away from him.

More than 4 out of 10 voted for liberty in a liberal state. It ain’t over but it’s extremely taxing.
Everything is pointing to the necessity of a better ground game with conviction and the willingness to cut the RINOs loose. This is going take time unfortunately, but it must happen.
