House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) sat down with MSNBNC anchor Andrea Mitchell on Wednesday to discuss what appears to be a deal which is poised to end the government shutdown and raise the nation’s borrowing limit. She criticized the unfocused Republican members of Congress and praised Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) who she said had been “a master at work” during the shutdown.
“Have you ever seen anything quite like this, a battle over what most people felt was nothing — nothing relevant to the issues at hand?” Mitchell asked.
“I think that Republicans even forgot what they were shutting down government for,” Pelosi replied.
Pelosi said that the shutdowns of 1995-1996 were equally pointless and were centered on then Speaker Newt Gingrich’s desire to save face “because he didn’t like a seat he got on a plane.”
“I think part of it is they don’t want our president to have the successes our country needs,” she added in an effort to explain the thinking of her Republican colleagues.
She commended Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) for bringing the bill which would end the crisis expected to pass in the Senate up for a clean vote in the House.
“I never saw anything like what Harry Reid did,” Pelosi added. “To watch him was to watch a master at work. He was superb — intellectually, politically astute. And just the sheer stamina of it all.”
Reid got rolled by a freshman senator bluffing on a pair of 4’s. He only got a few month delay in the debt ceiling and gave up no verifying of income for Zerocare. Now everyone is on record for their vote just in time for the ‘14 elections as Zerocare crashes and burns.

Income verification was already part of Zerocare. There is no victory here. Besides...its not like anyone really follows the law anyway. How many times has Zero “re-written” parts that weren’t working out for his buddies? How many times has the GOP held them accountable for following the law?

If Obamacare was defunded now we would be bragging about it for many years. I certainly would be.

As much as I hate this, I have to hand it to the Democrats. They play to win from beginning, middle and to the end. And they will not let up? Feeling confident about the 2014, 2016 elections? Feel confident that the people will reject/rebel against Obamacare? It will just drive more of them to the polls to put another Democrat majority & President in power.
At this point, I don’t know what the best strategy is and can’t even begin to suggest one, other than pray, and pray hard...God doesn’t have a plan B....
Reid is a Master at work...a Master Mahan, a keeper of Satan’s secret covenant.

You are right. I stand corrected. They went from the honor system, to an income verification system that will never be implemented. ..Kind of like the border fence.

I have often been repulsed by the ineptitude and spinelessness of most republicans. Today they hit a brand new low. The administration at least knows how to set goals and work for them as a team. They want to destroy America, and they are unified in achieving it. Most of the republicans caved in for one simple reason: their own sorry a$$es are more important to them than our country. They would rather keep their power and see us flushed than stand for what is right and potentially loose.
It is the equivalent of a soldier who sees the enemy coming, drops his weapon and raises his hands to proclaim, "the women and children are just over the rise; do what you want, just don't hurt me!"
So THIS is how a WINNER leads and THIS is how they continue to rule by pointing out to the world how stupid the opponent is and how brilliant and righteous they are. They have absolutely no shame and they love to spit on their opponent after they cut their throats. Whatever Pelosi, Reid and Obama may be, they are not losers. They put up “the good fight” and they win.
Democrats LOVE being called “Master”, it has been that way since the 1800s.
From the news coming out today, it sounds like it worked.
