Journalist and author Carl Bernstein said Wednesday that Republican Party leadership is “cancerous” and has put the United States at risk by letting the tea party lead the GOP.
“The Republican Party today has become a rabid organization from the top down. The leadership is cancerous,” the former Washington Post reporter said on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” on Wednesday.
Bernstein called the current situation a “terrible moment in our history” and said only segregation politics offers a comparison.
“You have to go back to the party, the Democratic Party of segregation to find this kind of scorched-earth politics putting the national interests nowhere and putting ideology and ideology above all else,” Bernstein said. “The full faith and credit of the United States, our reputation abroad, our stability, our national security has been endangered by [Senate Majority Leader Mitch] McConnell, by [House Majority Leader Eric] Cantor, who have embraced and cowardly appeased these forces who are know-nothings.”
It’s up to Republicans like Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) and former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush to “throw these people out,” he said.
“This is a watershed moment in American history, and unless some people, McCain and others, throw out the leadership that appeased this tail that is wagging the Republican dog — the tea party is not just a movement. It has been cowardly embraced by Eric Cantor, by [House Speaker John] Boehner, who has gone along with this craziness and allowed himself to be the speaker of this party and what it stands for,” Bernstein said.
It’s liberal media and their reporters that are “cancerous”. When they do themselves out of jobs, then what will they do?
Everyone should remember that Bernstein is a Red Diaper baby.
Wait Carl, soon the media will be talking about how the few left in the GOP are hurting the two party system of the Tea Party and Democrats.
Bernstein is a bitter old man because Woodward gets all the attention.

This Bully in the White House uses proxies to fight his battles but, he is the architect and he is pretending to be a “U.S. Obama” ala US Grant as it were and he cannot be allowed to get away with hurting people in such an overt, consciously thought manner and outright refusal to speak with other people.

When a bully goes out of his way to cause pain, when they do it in a very conscious and well thought manner, the only response is to fight back with all the ferocity and it’s never clean or “So Called Strategic”.
It’s nasty. In fact, it’s nastier than anything the A-hole exerting himself over you but, you cannot have peace unless you enforce “Your Terms and Conditions” for getting along in the world.
We can then be adults and merciful, allowing them a modicum of pride in retaining some of their faulty ego and we can do what is right and best for the American People.

The ideals of the tea party NOT being the foundation of the Republican Party is what has ALLOWED the cancers of our government to spread.
Decades ago our side should have simply locked up the gears of Washington so that nothing happened and nothing changes. Better that our system froze in time due to deadlock than the slide away from liberty we have experienced in my lifetime.

He’s right. The leadership is cancerous. But not for the reasons he gives. Guys like this toad are only comfortable in one-party dictatorships.
Our leaders look like the scummy old men you think hang out in the Big City YMCA saunas and steam rooms. They look like the Hollywood image of a big banker looking to toss out Henry Fonda. We look like paunchy, cigar smoking, buffoons who stand up in church and act pious, while trying to bang the poor widow behind the bushes.
The Democrats are all of these things. Their defense is that either A) They dont care and act that way, or B) they look at the cameras with indignation and accuse the accuser.
The Republicans need to recruit some stand up, good looking, aggressive men and women who can stand up to the democrats. We need people who are not going to cave in when someone suggests that their job might be in danger.
I hate them all. I have never been so mad at our government, and especially the leadership of the republican party.
If they had any dignity they would resign, enmasse for failure to lead. What they do is complain that they were “forced” into this corner. My God, are we talking about Student Government? Grow up. Grow some balls. And get going. Or get the F out of the way and let real leaders take over.
Republicans suffer from a version of “Stockholm Syndrome.” Held hostage by the Liberals the Republicans continue to take advice from, have fallen in love with, and defend their “captors.”
