U.S. Army Ranger Cpl. Josh Hargis was lying on a hospital bed in Afghanistan, hooked up to a breathing tube with his right hand heavily bandaged when he was awarded a Purple Heart for his valor in the battlefield.
None of that, however, stopped Hargis, 24, from following military protocol and lifting his bandaged hand to salute the Ranger Regimental Commander who pinned the Purple Heart to his red, white and blue blanket.
"Grown men began to weep and we were speechless at a gesture that speak[s] volumes about Josh's courage and character," one of the officers present in the hospital room wrote in a letter to Hargis's wife, Taylor. "I will remember it as the single greatest event I have witnessed in my ten years in the Army."
Taylor Hargis posted the photo of her husband saluting from his hospital bed along with the letter she received from his commanding officer to her Facebook page Oct. 12. It has since been shared more than 5,000 times, including on the Guardian of Valor website, which labeled the picture "the salute seen around the world."
Hargis of Cincinnati was wounded Oct. 6 when an Afghan woman detonated a suicide bomb vest, killing four members of his 3rd Army Ranger Battalion.....

Consider Phillipines in 1933. The Muslims on island of Mindinao protested that they didn’t want independence, as the US had provided good government.
I admit it—I was teary-eyed looking at the photo of this brave man.
He doesn’t get to decide why he’s over there. He was doing the job he was sent there to do.
I think God alone knows why we’re there-—no one down here seems to know what in the heck we’re doing over there.
It’s what happens when a foreign half black guy who can’t buy a clue is in charge......or maybe he does have a clue—and this is his plan. Either way, he has a lot to atone for.
Our brave men deserve better than the extremist democrat 'leaders' now occupying the White House.

I am sure Corporal Hargis will be rewarded by his Commander in Chief by obamas threat to stop all Veterans disability benefits and to ‘make it hurt’ by ensuring this patriot Soldier is allowed to endure the years long battle with the VA to receive a disability rating for service connection and benefits. It’s just the obama way ya know.

Don I’m confused, I am referring to first part of your comment. I don’t think we “win” anything in regards to Afghanistan or the rest of middle east for matter with current mindset.
The problem is in the mindset, not in the task before us.
Perhaps you recall that, before the surge, the Democrats were asserting that the Iraqi war was lost? The surge won that war.
Not to be denied, the Democrats made sure that under Obama they lost the peace.

Do you have a link to his facebook page? Is it in his name?
No kidding. The soldier shown with his unit patch visible has a Ranger tab but he is not in a Ranger battalion.
