Its very frustrating. Yet another brave Medal of Honor recipient, and who does the thread become about? Obama. Why do we even talk about him? He deserves to be ignored.
Captain Swenson, this thread should be about you Sir. Thank you for your service.
Someone persuaded Swenson to get a shave and a haircut for today’s ceremony and also persuaded him to wear a 10th Mountain Division combat badge. I suspect that there is a backstory on that, Swenson was assigned to the 1st Brigade, 1st Infantry Division, wore a 1st Division patch during the action and was only attached to the 1st Bn, 32d Infantry, a 10th Mountain Division unit. Both elements were in turn attached to the 4th Brigade, 4th Infantry Division. Given Swenson’s public remarks about the lack of support from the 1-32 Infantry TOC, I doubt that he would have worn their badge of his own volition. Someone is trying to paper over the C2 issues that is at the root of this incident.
The President, as usual, used the occasion to try to make political points. Pretty disgusting.
The CMH being presented by Soetoro, I think I would ask them to mail it to me.
Well I’m pleased the young Captain received the medal with the respect its deserved. Protests, fists in the air, inappropriate words at that ceremony... that’s not us, it’s them.
I was hoping someone here had the skinny on why the medal was delayed?
An honorable man receives a medal from.....(I don’t know how to put it)
I’d’ve said, “Mail it.”
The website of the Congressional Medal of Honor Society (chartered with that name by President Eisenhower) will explain. Also note that even they never refer to the decoration as anything but, The Medal of Honor.
I thought about that, but then realized that one would be accepting the medal from the American people and from a figurehead, not from a Muslim commie gay. Putting on a display of outrage would insult the medal and one's dead comrades, and would roll off Obama's back.
While you bring up some very good points to consider, I do not believe that I could put anything in front of my disgust for that bastard.
Fortunately neither you nor I are likely to be called to receive the Congressional Medal of Honor from him! But I could easily envision a situation in which I am compelled to meet other Dems in this area. I have met the despicable governor of my state in a social situation, so meeting someone higher up the food chain isn’t beyond the realm of possibility. So I must think about what I would do and say when confronted with some evil politician.
It’s an interesting problem: what words and actions achieve the most good in that situation? In many cases, giving vent to one’s feelings is a momentary pleasure but does not serve to defeat the wicked as much as a planned and controlled response. And surely fighting the evil effectively is more important than venting our feelings.
ottbmare, I completely understand your situation and tactics. I have the luxury of being retired and have been for about 11 years. ;>)
I spent a lifetime with the ability and gifts needed to charm a snake....even large rooms full of snakes. Today, I would just as soon dispatch the snake. I know, it sounds bad, but this freedom feels good. LOL
Cheers.....
And of course it’s different since I’m a lady. I can’t go around randomly spitting at gay Muslim commie frauds with the freedom you now enjoy. Just doesn’t look right. :-) It works much better to say something eviscerating with a smile than to act like someone from reality TV. I’d also not like to damage my boy’s career as a baby Marine.
LOL.... You sound like my wife. She is as conservative as I am, but she is still working and charms everyone she meets....even libs. ;>)
“.....my boys career as a baby Marine.”
Please thank him for me.
