MANSFIELD, LA (KSLA) - When a wild shopping spree fueled by what appeared to be "limitless" Electronic Benefit Transfer (EBT) cards ensued at two Louisiana Walmarts, not everyone who receive food stamp benefits joined in.

EBT cards: The great debate Walmart shelves in Springhill, Mansfield, cleared in EBT glitch DCFS: All SNAP EBT service restored In cell phone video that is circulating the Internet, several hundred people can be seen filling their shopping carts at Springhill and Mansfield Walmarts, when the stores apparently continued accepting EBT cards even though they weren't showing limits.
However, what can't be seen in those videos are the people who get food stamp assistance and chose not to abuse the system. One Ark-La-Tex man, who asked not to be identified, was one of them, though he admits the thought did cross his mind. "The first thing I thought of was, rib eye steak tonight instead of ramen noodles, but if we would have done that, I would have felt too guilty," he said.

Absolutely. But that won't happen.
***Nothing has changed.***
Something HAS changed! Remember the 1965 NYC blackout? No riots. No looting. Very peaceful. The police had no crime problems.
12 years later, 1977. Boom.
Maybe not all, but enough did. Savages.
Some card holders were still asleep?
Bazinga!
In 1965, the era of entitlement introduced by the “Great Society” had not yet gone into effect.
Flame me if you want but Ive been thinking about this wholesale stealing of the peoples taxes...
and thats what it was...
whose going to pay for the 100s of dollars of food charged to these cards...
yes charged not paid for ...
One female had $700 worth of food and onlt 49 cents on the charge card...
and some people had TEN carts full..
Walmart charged the US government meaning us the people for the food...
Instead of just giving them emergency food for one day...milk, bread eggs, rice, beans, cereal, necessary baby food..the old WIC alotment..
maybe add some canned food, bologna, hamburger for one or 2 days tops..
$50 worth and take names and numbers..
Walmart allowed these thieves to charge the government meaning us the people T-Bone steaks and other expensive meat and other top priced food..
Walmart deserves to get stuck with the bill...
you and I would go to jail if we charged $700 worth of food at Walmart on a credit card and then refused to pay the bank ..
Chase, Bank of America, American Express, Visa whomever would send those Vikings after us when we hadnt paid after a month or 2..
bad credit, etc..and jail..
Will Barry cut off their EBT cards completely for this misuse...there are guidelines and rules, they can get disqualified Its the thieves fault they did it not Walmarts..or take the amount out of the EBT cards for the next few months to make up the difference ???
If that 49 cents woman gets $300 a month then there is no way she needed $700 worth of food to feed her family for one day..her $300 equals $10 a day..thats plenty of help for a family of 4 the kids get free breakfast and lunch at school..
Walmart should have allowed only up to $50 worth and make it a one time emergency occurance..and only certain items..
If Barry refuses to hold these thieves to account and make them get a job and pay back right away we need to march in Washington because we are the ones who are paying for food to feed a lot of shiftless people including illegal aliens...food most of us cant afford to feed our own children...
and as I have said ...if Barry allows these thieves to get away with this...
then Walmart must eat the loss...
and not pass it onto us and victimize us twice..
Someone at the head office in Walmart should be fired...
While they may not know how to work, the certainly know how to flash-mob an opportunity.
About as hard as requiring voter ID’s.
Yes...Walmart should be fined...however, the criminals are the individuals who knowingly stole. They should be arrested, tried and put in jail for theft.
“Walmart deserves to get stuck with the bill...”
Eh?
You’ll have to explain why Walmart should pay here again. I didn’t follow the logic of your last post.
If Walmart was the one offering the credit, and the EBT card showed no limit and they accepted that purchase, fine, hammer Walmart.
I’m not sure that’s what happened here.
That is exactly what I was thinking when I first heard that our government had told WalMart they were going to eat the excess costs.
All EBT purchases should be restricted to House Brands, which every grocer has... and if they didn’t, they’d develop those house brands immediately. No meat or seafood purchases over 5.99/lb. No birthday cakes - yes, you can buy $50 bday cakes with food stamps!
they were asleep ....
The scene at WM will be repeated in spades when EBT is cut off. Bbring it on. This sort of thing must happen sooner or later. The later it comes the more serious will be the problem because the more extensive the cutoffs will be. They will not be limited to EBT. I would rather face it now than a year from now.

Who knows how this will turn out.
While the system was down/malfunctioning and the data couldn't be retrieved Walmart
should have refused any sales until the system was operational. In fact a Walmart in Philadelphia MS did just
that and actually shut down for a period of time.
I think the bottom line is Walmart will eat the overages above what the customer had
available on the card.
What an asinine and brainless headline!
Of course not!
35,000,000 parasite Obama family can't fit in the stores we know were attacked.
Obamaphones. A chain reaction.
Notice that on all the images during the looting, a good number are on their Obamaphones or stolen Iphones. Calling friends who call friends, etc.
The word got out instantaneously.
Yep. It took less than 12 years for people to lose their dignity and resort to feral behavior.
