That was TWO HOURS of a computer glitch. Store shelves stripped bear.
Essentially Walmart allowed looting rather than risk a riot in their store.
The ‘prepper nuts’ are seeming quite reasonable these days.
The local outlet contacted the state of Louisiana and was informed that the Walmart would eat the cost for any amount charged beyond what the ‘purchase’ card limit.
This means there are hundreds of felony theft / shoplifting cases the local DA can now likely ignore due to politics.
Walmart makes 25-40% of its money apparently from EBT. So just part of the cost of business. Pass the cost on to the cash customers.

I believe it is up to the Seller to verify the amount of money available on the card at the time of purchase.
Walmart failed to do so and I suspect will be paying for the overages that they processed. JMO
Sometimes ATM’s go bonkers and disgorge cash.
But the electronic records are intact, and the transactions are all on video, so the bank just debits your account.
Only a question of time before Black legislators, many of them lawyers, line up to explain why people should be allowed to keep their ill gotten goods.
