President Barack Obama is risking impeachable offenses with the way he is handling the debt limit debate, former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin said in a post on her Facebook page Monday.
Defaulting on our national debt is an impeachable offense, and any attempt by President Obama to unilaterally raise the debt limit without Congress is also an impeachable offense, Palin wrote.
In her statement, Palin also accused the president of scaremongering on the debt ceiling. She suggested that a default could be averted by paying interest on the debt through daily revenues collected by the United States, an idea that has been recently touted by several conservative voices on the right.
Its also shameful to see him scaremongering the markets with his talk of default. There is no way we can default if we follow the Constitution,(continued)

defaulting on national debt is NOT an impeachable offense. US already defaulted at least once during 1971. How else do we deal with the massive US debt? It already reach a point where paying the debt is an impossible task
The House needs to prepare a number of Articles to have in the quiver, ready to fire.
Obama will never...and I mean never, be impeached.
It isn’t going to happen.
I disagree. If he fails to pay the debt even though he has 8 or 10 times the revenue necessary, thus causing great harm to America and Americans, then he should be impeached. Boehner, if he had any gumption, would be on the Hill saying that he would personally file the Articles of Impeachment if Obama tried that. Impeachment is for high crimes and misdemeanors. Misdemeanors means “bad behavior” in Constitutional law. I think intentionally destroying the American economy in order to punish Americans for not wanting to be socialist qualifies.
wonderful. thank God for her bully pulpit.
No, he will never be convicted. If he keeps this up, he might be impeached.
I love Sarah, but I believe Jughead could do anything he pleased and never be questioned about it much less impeached - just remember Libya, the IRS, etc...
I doubt there are enough votes in the house to impeach him. I don’t doubt the NSA has dirt on most of the house.
HE IS ABOVE THE LAW!!!
The House of Representatives has the sole power of impeaching, while the United States Senate has the sole power to try all impeachments.
The way expenditures are rigged, the actual debt payments are not prioritized. A government contractor may be paid before the interest on a government bond.
The House may very well impeach him, before this is over. The senate will not convict him though.
But it could be a strategy to tie his hands, if he continues unlawful practices. His underlings will have second thoughts about following unconstitutional dictates if there is an active impeachment trial in process.
There is nothing to prevent the House from impeaching the guy now, except the lack of political will. Andrew Johnson was impeached simply for frustrating the will of Congress. That does not mean it is a wise course, nor does it mean it is wise. It is basically a means of holding the Executive in check. Given that it is so seldom used, does mean that we dont know how it would function. On the other hand, if we can keep the lawyers off any panel, it is not bound by precedent.
I am glad you guys are continuing to stand up to the idiots of both parties who want to keep on adding debt to you economy - i.e. you and your children and your grandchildren. Even prior to this I have heard economists talking about the US being like a young married couple, with an Education debt, with all their credit cards maxed out, a debilitating house loan, 2 car loans and kids at private schools and yet they are still wanting to borrow more just to pay for the interest they owe.
They are already talking about how the rest of us live in a world and monetary system with a failed US economy or with one that’s spending power is severely reduced. It’s now or never or be prepared for a total paradigm shift - can anyone say New World Order?
Sure it is. By constitutional law, the debt interest must be paid first before any other obligations. The government takes in 8 to 10 times the amount of that interest, so they have plenty of money to sevice the interest. (Note I said interest, the principal owed is impossibly huge.) Obama is always talking about default, but he means "it's de fault of Bush". He can't allow actual default or he can be impeached.
