Asheville Downtown Association to meet with city officials over trash, policing, toplessness

Another concern of the ADA is female toplessness downtown, something not currently against the law, but which Council members have noted in meetings recently is a source of complaint from some downtown business owners. State Rep. Tim Moffitt introduced a bill to ban female toplessness (specifically nipples) in public, and Asheville City Council had earlier called for a change in state law to allow them to stop the annual topless rally. But the bill never advanced during this year's legislative session, and the so-called "nipple ban" became the target of some mockery.

Did you work at the YMCA’s Blue Ridge Assembly or Ridgecrest maybe? Or one of the many camps in Black Mt.?

I had the pleasure of living there beginning about 2 or 3 years before they blew down the mountain which took all the traffic out of the tunnel. I loved that they had signs up that read NO HONKING and on a Friday night everyone was blowing their horn as they drove through.

“Luckily we got a marriage Amendment!”

You spoke too soon.

Roy Cooper (NC Atty Gen) just came out for gay marriage. Throw in the 2 or 3 gay couples that the Charlotte Register of Deeds would NOT issue marriage licenses to a few days ago...

You got just the right ingredients for a turnaround.

...sheesh...

Yes, I worked at Ridgecrest. I am familiar with all the other places as we played them in softball few time a year. We also went up against the Black Mountain Fire Dept. We were pretty much king of the valley except our boys camp and sometimes Montreat would beat us in basketball. Our own boys camp always beat us in basketball but they usually had a player or two off a national champion team. all their rest were college players. Their coach was a good man. He was the Father of Brad Johnson who played QB and also basketball at Florida State. He probably knocked around the NFL for 10 or 15 years. Often as a starter and often as a back up.

For some reason we only played Blue Ridge in Football. It was nominally tag but always degenerated into tackle. I also recall Montreat always having a great tennis team. We had some good players most Summers but they would still beat us.

“...it takes complementary types of people to make a baby!”

Exactly. Even Mother Nature is telling these folks they’re a dead end for the species.
