The latest outline of a potential Senate deal to end the fiscal impasse and government shutdown calls for keeping the government funded until Jan. 15 and raising the debt limit through Feb. 15, congressional aides told ABC News today.
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid and Senator Minority Leader Mitch McConnell are spearheading the negotiations as the White House postponed a planned afternoon meeting with congressional leaders to give them time to do their work.
It is still a moving target, but the plan is the framework for what McConnell and Reid believe could make a deal -- "and avoid repeating this all over again at Christmas," in the words of one top adviser.
But it's unclear how House Speaker John Boehner, who is being advised on the plan, and his Republican conference would react to any Senate deal. Boehner met this afternoon with McConnell for about 30 minutes for "an update on negotiations," a spokesman said.

And whot the hell is going to force the income verification, or verify that it is accurate? This is stupid.
Getting rid of the medical device tax helps lots of dem senators, including Reid.
“This part of the deal anyway is not the GOP falling on its sword; this is the Dems admitting they were wrong.”
Nice try, but you KNOW it won’t be spun that way by the media, right?
There is a rollback in an Obamacare tax.
And talks continue into an election year...which Reid et al did not want.
Unacceptable —
Why not make the 15% nonessential part of government permanent, subtract that from the budget, and then there won’t be any need to raise the debt limit.
Of course...they are perpetual liars.
But that doesn't mean the truth didn't happen.
It appears sequester in place for a couple of months. A short delay on med rev tax and budget negotiations which Cruz and the house have blocked. Basically total copitulation. No other way of reading. No delays in Obamacare, no long term spending cuts and no upper hand in budget negotiations where we are 70 billion apart in numbers but way off in priorities. Also polling in the toilet. How else do you spin this?
Ditto Dan !!! This is far from over .. let's let the population get worked up over Obamacare and then ride THAT issue.
The Tea Party was NOT WRONG, they were just ahead of the curve. Let the working Joe's who don't get into politics get thru Open Seanson first ... then you will see a tidal change ..
Sure looks like doormat RINOS Boehner and McConnell are a-fixin’ to cave in AGAIN to the Obama-Reid Regime.
time to get on the phones to the usual GOPe suspects:
especially the turncoat ayotte. you know: mcconnell, cornyn, corker, collins, murky, alexander, etc., etc.
GOP listen up! Jimmy Stewart explains the sequester, the shutdown and the looming debt limit “disaster”... “we’re panicking and he’s not”.

I guess they leak the story out early to see if we will accept the cave in deals they come up with (to see if any of it will “stick”).
The BBC World News editor Mark Mardell spoke a few minutes ago on air of the GOP needing something in the deal to “save face”.
In other words Boehner and his team need something to look good and I don’t think there’s anything good about caving into Obama.
Regardless of the deal, this exercise did a lot to clarify who is against Obamacare and who wants to go along to get along. So when Obamacare crashes and burns, you will know who was right.
The Republicans want to use anger over Obamacare to keep on electing RINO’s who won’t get rid of it after they get elected anyway.
Nothing they do will "look good" to these people. They will NEVER vote for them anyway.
I like combining all of our leverage, which is sequester and the debt limit.- Paul Ryan to National Review, October 2nd, 2013.
Where in the world to Paul Ryan get the idea that the GOP would have any leverage on the debt ceiling? We have had a successful govt. shutdown for 2 weeks, which will only come to an end, because going past the debt ceiling date is being heralded as armageddon? Republicans are caving, not because they want to end the shutdown, but because they are so scared that the global economy will collapse if they don’t raise the debt ceiling. Yet, Paul Ryan believed the GOP had leverage with the debt ceiling. What an idiot.
Flipping dials to get feel from all sides, came across Gloria Borger on CNN, they just released the latest poll from ABC/WASHPOST
Poll had blame this way...
74% Rep
61% Dems
I don’t buy the science of political polling, but nevertheless I thought that was pretty good for R, seeing the source
Gloria Borger needs to learn to count, she said 20 points difference there???
Gloria it`s only 13 points difference
Bernie Sanders -I—VT- calls members of House of Representatives “right wing extremists”-
WCAX tv Burlington VT broadcast now but nothing on their website wcax.com
I'm not sure where you get that from. The sequester cuts in growth for '14 are going to go forward. Cuts will be made in Jan. The Dems lost on this and cannot talk about spending for new programs; cuts in growth are doing the opposite of what they want.
A short delay on med rev tax
2 year delay and the tax will not be re-instituted again. Just like the Bush tax cuts. They were finally made permanent.
No delays in Obamacare
It was only going to be a delay in the mandate...no one was ever talking about delaying the whole of Obamacare.
And Obamacare is beginning to fall of its own accord although few realize it. Despite MSM rhetoric and lies we are winning.
(a) the public sees Obamacare for what it is (this will take a few weeks, but only if the government is under the gun): and
(b) the public realizes that the sky will not fall (no default, life goes on).
Today's 'deal' destroys the progress to date and takes the pressure off. No one will want to hear from Ted Cruz and the Tea Party caucus again in January. It will be old news. The public will conclude that Cruz lost and Obama won.
What is the rationale, in the public's mind, for delaying only the House leverage but not Obamacare? There is only one reason and it is that Cruz lost the PR battle. It is then over; there is no rerun. We can't stop and then start again. The voters won't tolerate that.
In addition, the shutdown is hamstringing the immigration amnesty conspirators. Remove it and we'll see an immigration bill going through the House before Thanksgiving.
Today's 'deal' would pave the way for amnesty next month and single-payer healthcare before Obama's term ends.
Ted Cruz was right. The only time to stand against this monster is now.
