[Breaking news update 1:15 p.m.]
President Barack Obama said Monday there had been some progress in Senate negotiations on a possible compromise to reopen the federal government and avoid a U.S. default as soon as Thursday. And he added that the partial shutdown of the government for the past two weeks was "completely unnecessary," and he blamed the use of "brinksmanship as a strategy time and time again to try to extract extreme or partisan concessions."

Harry uses “partisan” like a dirty word,
in reality it means, “freedom fighter”.

Reid needs to accept the fact that the House holds the keys to the vault on spending matters.
Boehner understands that if caves and pisses off the Tea Party wing, he will be a former Congressman next year.

“Kay Bailey Hutchison; @kaybaileyhutch
Hope Mitch McConnell can find a way to put a credible option on the table to keep spending at budget control act levels and open government”
Hopes Harry gets everything he wantsLOL!
That talk of breaking the sequester levels was such an obvious ploy: “look we quit asking for the moon- we’re compromising!”
I hope Mitch decides he wants to get reelected and holds out for the House debt limit bill.
That bill is what has Harry and Barry desperately scuttling around.

With the Obama care bill IIRC the senate found some obsolete rule that Louise slaughter of NY found, that when the bill reached the senate they would ‘deem’ it passed, with out voting on it, or something to that effect..

And, of course, any revenue bill that originates in the Senate is black-letter unconstitutional.

McConnell and Reid can gnaw on that bone all day long if they want to but the Republicans in the House are not biting.

Amen! The longer the shutdown continues, the less government we have (I hope), and perhaps the Little Red Hen criers, “The Sky is Falling!” will be exposed and ignored.
