Obamacare is imploding. But thanks to the government shutdown, everyone is talking about the implosion of the GOP instead.
The shutdown drama has distracted from the fact that Obamacares debut is worse than many realize and it threatens the fundamental viability of the law itself. The administration claims the Obamacare online exchanges crashed because the Web site got more than 8 million hits in the first week. Please. You know how many people visit Amazon.com every week? More than 70 million. The difference is: 1.) Amazon seldom crashes, and 2.) on Amazon, people actually buy something.

You are a FReeper after my own heart...
I prefer to see it as an example of creative destruction. The GOP, as currently constituted as the “me too” party, has outlived its usefulness. The party will either be reborn, or it will be replaced by something else.
That’s why, when typing “0bama”, I always use the numeric zero key, not the letter.
It's a holiday weekend, and we often see underlings in the MSM accidentally let bits of truth slip out while the regular editors are all off on their yachts. You can bet they'll be back tomorrow to set the record "straight".
“So does mine. I can get the same thing on the Exchange (high deductible) at a fraction of the cost. Theoretically...”
I’ll pay for my freedom. Money is the least of the things they are after. As with all communists, they want your soul. The Poles knew this in 1939 when the chose to spurn assistance from Stalin’s USSR against Nazi Germany.
How about the many examples of people erroneously put on the TSA's No Fly list. That's a microscopically tiny database compared to what ObamaCare tries to implement and it's totally snafu'ed. There is near zero likelihood that the records held in the ObamaCare database will actually be yours and not (some mix) of someone else's. In the hospital for a broken leg? Come out with your liver removed because your med file got tagged with someone else's name. Complaint about that? Talk to the IRS.
If the website is as poorly designed as they say, it will take years to fix it.
The agency that I work at implemented a system to account for assets from failed banks. It works fairly well, but every quarter there are upgrades to make it better. I doubt that more than 100 users on the system at one time.
I'm no computer expert, but there's no doubt the contractor sold the Obama Administration a bill of goods that's great for the contractor's shareholders, at the expense of the US taxpayer.
The implosion will be so big that it will take the unconstitutional entitlememnt/regulatory state down with it. Either that, or we have a kind of surrveilance state soviet tyranny to keep it in place. But it will bankrupt us before then.
DESIGNED to FAIL for SINGLE PAYER :(
Give it another week or so, Marc.
Then these two seemingly separate subjects will become the same in the public's eye, as more and more people realize, "Obamacare is horrible...looks like the republicans are fighting for me"
I saw one of those “I heart Obamacare” bumper stickers on the lower part of the trunk on a car in a parking lot here in Maine several weeks ago. The car had Texas plates.
Thanks for posting it.
Yes, the shutdown is for days, Obamacare is forever.
>Only their good intentions are measured.<
.
Their “good” intentions remind me of Lenin’s and Hitler’s “well-meaning” intentions for their respective countries.
The computer problems are a sideshow and possibly a welcome relief to the administration (which they’d never admit).
The debate needs to be always over whether toe Obamacar law a good thing. Software to help with it’s implementation is not important. Some of it doesn’t work now and that’s gotten a lot of attention. That problem will never be a basis for eliminating or reforming Obamacare.
Roll down your window and politely tell them, “Excuse me, it seems someone put an, ‘I’m an idiot’ bumper sticker on your car.”
Throughout this shutdown, Obamacare debacle, it’s been obvious that Obamacare will fail without any help from the GOP. The law and the people charged with implementing and enforcing it are as incompetent as the website.
computer garbage in, computer garbage out. And remember the garbage men are unionized.
