Republicans should welcome discussion about sequester -- it was an across the board cut, mostly from defense. There was no consideration whatsoever of the importance and utility of the various programs.

The GOP should re-address this and focus on reprioritization of the programs and allocate cuts based on that.

The Dems always run circles around the GOP -- first they conned them into agreeing to the sequester in the first place, which was a very poor idea, now the GOP are painted as obstructionists for not willing to revisit it.

Screw that nonsense. Fund the government with small bills that are clearly defined. No more package deals. No more indiscriminate cuts.

It was a great idea. There is virtually no branch of government that does not have its fair share of waste and defense is probably the worst of all (that is where all the money is).

Obama is obviously seeking to smash/gut/destroy the GOP as a political force for good here.

The question is does the GOPe have ANY pride whatsoever, or are they ok with being Obama’s b*tch from now on?

GOP screwed up. If they passed a clean CR, all the attention would be on the disastrous openning of Obamacare and sticker shock. Instead Obama closes gov and the MSM is more then willing to tell the US public it is the GOP who shutdown gov. Obama has one objective, regain the House in 2014 and keep the Senate. Once Congress is in his hands, his uber left policies will be passed at the same speed as FDR New Deal. Illegals will get Amnesty, Guns will be outlawed, and many more to come.
The only way the GOP can get out is give Obama a clean CR and extend the DL with no conditions. That means the GOP will piss off their base and these voters may sit out in 2014. If GOP says no deal, Obama declares US in default and chaos reigns. GOP will be blamed costing them independent voters in 2014. Give in lose in 2014, resist and be blamed for chaos and lose in 2014. Sen Reid already hinted this and Obama is a Chicago street fighting politician. Even Wall Street does not have a clue on how far Obama and the Dems will go. The CR and DL was a PR ambush set by the Dems for the GOP. The GOP stepped into it and are entangled badly. My bet is on 17 Oct 2013, Obama will reject any deals from GOP and let the stock market crash, and panic ensue. MSM will zero in on Cruz and the Tea Party. Right or wrong, this is the reality as I see it. If you want a preview of chaos, the Food Stamp Card software had a glitch and many EBT cards were rejected. Youtube sources reported that some locations near rioting almost broke out in the stores. Some EBT holders were planning to walk out with their shopping carts of food without paying for it.
Silicon valley is full of socialist Dem loving programmers who work for many IT companies. They are not professionals and worst ideologues. Many were college activists who would not hesitate to get a bundle of absentee ballots and sign up everyone in his sorority and cast the ballot for a Dem candidate. They already started life as a ruthless partisan. If Dems tell them to have fun with the software to screw GOP clients, they will do it. Same if they are asked to create chaos for partisan reasons.

I totally disagree.
The scumbag Democrats are the party of government, the bigger the better. Cuts of any kind for any reason ultimately leave them less money to buy the votes of their moocher base. Let the scumbag rats grovel for more spending. And then don't give them any.

Senate leaders attempting to avoid a U.S. debt default…

Could we please put this lie to bed! There is no threat of a debt default. Even with no increase in the debt limit there is enough tax income to pay all the obligations on the debt. These payments, and only these payments, are constitutionally mandated. Promises for government spending are not debt; they are just promises. Pay the debt and then cut the rest of the budget to match the money we actually have. It is not all that hard. Families do it all the time.
