Hundreds of veterans descended on Washington, D.C. on Sunday under overcast skies and light rain to protest the closure of the war memorials during the government shutdown and tore down the barricades surrounding the memorials to sounds of horns from truckers and cars and the roar of motorcycle engines.
They were joined by Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee and former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin, who urged the Democratically-controlled Senate and President Barack Obama to remove the barricades and end the partial government shutdown.
Police blocked the roads, leading to tense stand-offs as the protesters swarmed on to the road surrounding police cars, chanting Move these cars! They then began marching on the White House to continue their protest, carrying uprooted barricades along with them to toss in front of the White House.

In 1932 Veterans marched on Washington, DC in a similar way to the Veterans marching today.
For anyone not already familiar with the 1932 Veterans Bonus March it is worth reading about.
http://www.worldwar1.com/dbc/bonusm.htm
The 1932 Bonus march was comprised of about 43,000 marchers 17,000 World War I Vets, their families and supporters.
They camped in a shantytown called Hooverville.
President Hoover and his Attorney General ordered Army Chief of Staff General Douglas MacArthur to clean the Vets out of Washington.
MacArther sent Majors George Patton and Dwight D. Eisenhower in with regular Army troops and tanks to do the job.
All three ended up with their hands soiled by the blood of veterans and their families. Major Patton became General Patton and gained fame in WWII.
Major Dwight D. Eisenhower is the same man who became Commander of Allied Forces in WWII and went on to become USA President Dwight D. Eisenhower
They attacked the vets and fired on them killing at least one vet and injuring many more.
Then they set fire to Hooverville, injuring many more including some of the Vets' family members.
the final death tally is really uncertain as some of the injured died later of their wounds in various places around the country.
Not one of our finer moments, like when
we elected klinton.
AWESOME!
Don’t forget”OBONGO”!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And then its on like donkey kong.
valerie jarrett orders her jack-booted thugs to open fire in 3, 2, 1, ...
Tossing Barry`s Cades onto WH = Tossing George`s Tea into Boston Harbor
“They attacked the vets and fired on them”
Overt lie or ignorance.
Army did not fire on Vets.
Used tear gas and did forcefully remove them. An infant did die of the tear gas. A participant who was shot and killed was shot off site in a building In a separate incident, unrelated to the Army’s forced removal of the campers, by DC police
I became familiar with the Bonus March history after hearing Chinese Communist apologists justifying the Tiananmen Square massacre with the supposed massacre of US Vets of the Bonus March, trying to create the moral equivalence of US and communist regimes.
Let this not turn in to a thread about the Bonus March. Just setting the record straight to off set long term leftist disinformation.
Those memorials, the land, the SpiteHouse and all belong to the American people; not the government.
Bravo! Our vets are awesome!!
God Bless our Vets and may 0bummer and his lapdogs rot in hell for closing these sites belonging to the people.
No, I want someone in jail. Hang BJ and Mr. Rotten Clunton. the red skull carville, the poison dwarf steponallofus, the whole damn administration.
Thanks for post this.
Dear Finnegan, Thank you for pointing out that the Army did NOT fire on the Bonus Marchers. I concur with your research.
And thank you for keeping truth, not disinformation, alive.
