Need evidence of Cruz's gains of late? He won the 2016 straw poll at the Values Voter Summit on Saturday with 42 percent of the vote and his speech at that gathering of social conservatives was received very warmly. He has become the center of gravity for a certain not-insignificant element of the Republican party. Cruz has proven that he will be

Good! Time for a NEW PARTY headed with REAL CONSERVATIVES like TED CRUZ, MIKE LEE, SARAH PALIN, ALLEN WEST, and others.
You hit the nail right on the head with that statement.
The current GOP is made up mostly of politicians who are WAITING for something to happen rather than MAKING THINGS HAPPEN.
Very little LEADERSHIP or BACKBONE from the GOP as a whole.
ObamaCare is self-destructing all over the place, yet that goofy Krugman on ABC was trying desperately to claim that the exchange website in CA is a smashing success. Peggy Noonan kept refuting it and she's right. Only about 6,000 out of about one million visitors have been able to actually enroll!!!
The day before that skewed poll with a huge increase in government employees included who most likely are AFSCME and SEIU and other government unionized using their lockstep union dictated talking points all of a sudden gives the GOPe an unjustified lift (along with Harry Reid and the Dems) to try once again to make a whipping boy out of the Tea Party. This inspite of the fact this is all one big "pitched battle!"
First Dubya and the Repubs win a big one in 2006 and the Dems panick and begin admitting they don't look too good to voters in the "values" arena. Then Jocko wins in 08 which upsets Repubs and the Tea Party is born and blows out the Dems in 2010 like never before! Then Obozo wins again over a good but non-flashy candidate and the GOPe now tries to halt the rise of the TP that gave them unprecedented victory just as The IRS and other agencies have the TP in a unprecedented straight jacket!!!
If Christ returned as a baby once again he'd be crucified once again. If Ronald Reagan was resurected in the body and mind of Ted Cruz with the backing of the TP, it's a cinch the GOPe would reject him and continue losing as is their habit!!!
This is a pitched battle for the soul of America and fiscal conservatism as well as social conservatism. The GOPe will never win again without both in charge of the Party!!! American voters are beginning to catch on that bloated government is not their friend!!!
TED CRUZ:
Yeah, you know anytime the media feigns concern about Republicans' political future it's either intentional disinformation, OR, if on some rare occasion one of them were being sincere, it would still be an opinion formed by his upside-down view of what's right and what's popular, so it would STILL be 180 degrees out of sync with the truth even if he thought he were giving valid advice.
And don't assume it's entirely the website -- it may be that the plan offerings are so undesirable that out of the million, only 50,000 were even willing to buy, and then out of that only 6,000 were able or something like that.
Now I've got to go see that thread about the Washington Examiner's article about the poll being bogus. Rush pointed out yesterday that the "internals" showed that 20% of respondents were government employees. Normally, only 5% are government respondents.
Given that we're in the middle of a government "Lock-Out," not so much a shut-down, that further colored those GovernMental employee responses!!!
This is commonly known in political consultant circles as a "PUSH-POLL!"
...the Long Star State.I checked, it's in the original text right now. Hey, stupid writer and editor -- it's Lone Star State". But at least he didn't use the term "tea-baggers" (this time).
Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants... bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society. Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors. [but hes not in favor of amnesty, snicker, definition of is is]
...by softening its edge on some volatile social issues and altering its image as the party always seemingly "eager to go to war... We do need to expand the party and grow the party and that does mean that we don't always all agree on every issue" ... the party needs to become more welcoming to individuals who disagree with basic Republican doctrine on emotional social issues such as gay marriage... "We're going to have to be a little hands off on some of these issues ... and get people into the party," Paul said.

...The Republican Party must embrace more legal immigration.
Unfortunately, like many of the major debates in Washington, immigration has become a stalemate-where both sides are imprisoned by their own rhetoric or attachment to sacred cows that prevent the possibility of a balanced solution.
Immigration Reform will not occur until Conservative Republicans, like myself, become part of the solution. I am here today to begin that conversation.
Lets start that conversation by acknowledging we arent going to deport 12 million illegal immigrants.
If you wish to work, if you wish to live and work in America, then we will find a place for you...
This is where prudence, compassion and thrift all point us toward the same goal: bringing these workers out of the shadows and into being taxpaying members of society.
Imagine 12 million people who are already here coming out of the shadows to become new taxpayers.12 million more people assimilating into society. 12 million more people being productive contributors.

Sounds like an interesting thread. I’ll go check it out too.
If reports of Republican panic on Capitol Hill are accurate, a big reason is likely the latest NBC/Wall Street Journal survey, which purports to show the public overwhelmingly disapproves of the GOP's role in the government shutdown.
..........[snip]....
But there is much less here than at first appears. For one thing, the survey is based on interviews with "adults," not "likely voters," which significantly lessens its usefulness in predicting the shutdown's impact on the 2014 election.
The sample size is only 800 when 1,000 or more is preferable because it usually boosts the confidence level in the results and lowers the margin of error.
But what really detracts from its usefulness is the fact the survey, which was conducted jointly for NBC and the Wall Street Journal by Democratic pollster Peter Hart and GOP pollster Bill McInturff, uses a seriously flawed sample.
As BlueCollarPerspective's Charles Hawkins points out, the sample is heavily over-weighted by the presence of government workers 20 percent, which is two-and-a-half-times the rate for the general public and there too many Democrats and too few Republicans being interviewed.
From a statistical perspective, public opinion surveys absolutely depend upon randomness in sample selection. The most accurate survey is produced when every potential respondent has exactly the same chance of being selected as every other potential respondent.
It's impossible to achieve perfect randomness, but the closer a sample gets to it, the more accurate it will be. Hart and McInturff are reputable pollsters, so it appears they simply drew what amounts to an outlier survey sample.
That makes the survey all but useless as support for strategic decisions by anybody involved in the shutdown debate. But it is perfectly consistent with the conventional wisdom of the traditional media, which is heavily skewed against the Republicans, so expect to hear it cited repeatedly in the next few days......"
Perhaps you meant 2004? The Republicans got their asses handed to them in 2006. That's the year Nancy Pelosi took over as Speaker of the House.
This nation’s doom will not come from the inaction of a bunch of corrupt politicians, but from the inaction of true American patriots.
If WAPO says the GOP lost, you got to believe they won as did Cruz! The RATS are getting nervous, that’s why they’re trying to brainwash the public with there phony polls.
NOW the GOP is fearful that victory would lead to Ted Cruz becoming de facto leader of the entire party. And on this rare occasion, the GOP-e is correct. Bob
Unfortunately, that's correct. It's a no-win situation.
I watch Boehner and it reminds me of a few things...in The Godfather, Michael tells Tom he'll be sitting this battle out..."I need a wartime Consigliere."(sp)
This is war, and Boehner is no wartime Consigliere.
Then I'm reminded of a dancing bear...they say you shouldn't be critical of the way the bear dances, you should be amazed he can dance at all.
Boehner is not suited for the task. Going to war with this general is suicide. I'm sure he's a nice man, but he's totally unsuited for the task at hand.
And that fact serves as a testament to the mans values and character. (If) his name appears on the ballot in 2016 I will be so very happy to pull the lever for him also be happy to contribute some $$ to him when he announces for his run. Go Ted Cruz. You're the best man for the job by far.
