No dramatization has ever been faithful to the historical record of anything. It’s not the way drama works. Whenever there is a film inspired by actual events there are always articles about the ‘lies’. It never fails. If you want the truth watch a documentary.

I know. But the average low-info person is not necessarily seeing with a critical eye. An example: I was talking to a friend who is a les bien about Victor/Victoria. She actually said she was surprised that Robert Preston was gay, believing that he was what the role he played was. People do not think critically. Robert Preston was an actor playing a gay man. That does not mean he was gay. She made that leap without any additional info.

People believe what they see in the movies.
