STUARTS DRAFT, Va. -- People in 17 states haven't been able to get food they need if they have a food stamp debit card.
The O'Neils rely on their EBT Debit card to feed themselves and their son Micah.
"People were looking at me I asked if there was anything else if she could if she could run it again and it wasn't working," said Terry O'Neil.
The card has $153 to support three people for the remaining weeks in October.
When their EBT card was denied today at the Waynesboro Walmart, Kristen O'Neil was embarrassed and frustrated.
"We didn't have any food in the pantry so we needed food today," said Kristen O'Neil.
If Kristen O'Neil hadn't called her grandparents to come pay for the groceries, they may not have had dinner.
"If not, I don't know what we would have done," said Kristen O'Neil.
Kristen called the number on the card, and she was told "access denied."
"We rely on that because after our bills are paid and our rent's paid we have nothing left for food," said Kristen O'Neil.

Gentlemen, start your violins..
“Women and Minorities Hardest Hit.”
The GOP needs to start running adds and stating that this is what will happen to health care when obama care runs out of money. Then state that the GOP tried to pass a bill to stop this shut down of the EBT program but the dems refused to pass the bill.
Woo Hoo! Stuarts Draft makes the big news!
If the GOP capitulates Monday, I’d say that’s a good sign this was a warning shot from the Administration.
“If not, I don’t know what we would have done,” said Kristen O’Neil.

"It's just that we feel entitled to have our food paid for by the hard work of others.

3 people, 21 days, $153. That’s $0.81 per person per meal per day.
I just got back from Walmart.
Flour: $2/5lbs. Chicken: $5.90/10lbs. Veggies: $1/lb. Eggs: $2.50/18.
Do the math, get some recipies, and methinks that will work out just fine.
They’re freaking out and it was down for just a few hours.
Dey want dere free stuff when dey want it.

Where is the mountain dew and corn chips. They will starve.
I think that’s exactly what the GOP should do and if not the GOP, any group with the funds to make Obama look bad.
You can save and extend the benefits further by skipping the veggies. After all, the “green shoots” of the recovery are everywhere, according to the admin. They can be picked, cooked, and eaten for free.
Well, the story is it was xerox, and a coinkydink, so we have to take them at their word. There will always we suspicions, of course, and well probably never know the truth.
Pikers! I’ve been behind EBT card users in supermarket lines who spend a lot more than $141. But, yeah, roughly the same kind of stuff.
I know millions of people are on food stamps because they’re lazy. But I’m sure there are also those who need food stamps to eat. Without knowing which is which, I tend to be a little bit compassionate.
Since I’m anonymous on here this story cannot be seen as self praise. I was traveling across the country one time and was in line in a grocery store in North Carolina. A young attractive black lady with a baby was checking out in front of me. She was paying with cash. She had eggs, milk, bread and orange juice. She didn’t have enough money so she told the clerk she wouldn’t get the orange juice. I told the clerk to give it to her and I’d pay for it. The young lady was very grateful and kept thanking me over and over. Her eyes were filled with tears. So were mine.
She may have been a fraud. But in my heart it was as real as it could get.
Thanks to the democrats lots of people in this country are hungry. There are those who want to work but can’t find a job. I pray for them all.
No flames, please.
