Full carts abandoned at Chicago grocery stores were a common sight as shoppers in Illinois and many other states have been unable to use their food stamp debit cards.
More than two million people in Illinois use a so-called Link Card. That's one in six residents in the state. So when suddenly the system went down Saturday morning many customers just walked out of the store.
"Now I'm going to have to unfortunately do the fast food thing now. No cooking tonight," said Link Card user Rob Lee.
"That's how people starve," said shopper Sean Wright. "People starve if they don't have the Link to feed their children, to feed their family with."

Wow, I couldn’t go that long. That’s impressive.
What motivated me to no ends was a “micro-burst” (that’s what local “officials” call it when they want to spare insurance companies from tornado damage claims) last year DURING my mini-financial collapse and both ends of my two entrance road were closed off due to downed trees for multiple days (and no electricity). Plan as if you won’t have electricity for many weeks (months?) and learn how to start fires. This may sound lame, but depending on where you live, join your local mushroom club; you can feed yourself quite well on them (I am learning quite a bit on top of literally making a salad out of what is growing naturally all around my property). —BE CAREFUL with mushrooms, VERY careful. Join a club if one exists around you and freepmail me if you would like info on a good book...
Time to lock & Load!
Depending on your location make sure at least one person is awake at all times.
Mayonnaise....and books. i heard they hate Mayonnaise.
Spread it below every entry point and window sill to keep these barbarians away.
good luck
God bless the Food Pantries and those who volunteer to help dispense the food. There are American citizens out there who because of age, disability/illness or loss of employment do need assistance obtaining food for themselves and their families. And to the illegals and the bums who live off the backs of you and I, I say it's just too damn bad for you.
If you get stopped in another country from using your US credit card because of a need to type in a PIN try PIN number 0000. That has worked for me on several occasions.
Exactly. I’ve done the same thing and realized that I’d forgotten my wallet. You just reverse course.
The problem is easily solved.
Make it illegal for Democrats and Liberals to have a lock on their front door.
That way their fellow Progressives can get what they need when they need it.
They certainly don’t want to be mean spirited like those Evil Conservative and Republican types.
wait a minute- the dude is going out for “fast food” to eat because his ebt card doesn’t work????
Yes, people will "starve" when their "free" EBT card stops working for 2 hours.
best way i can figure to foment insurrection,
get the rabble takers hungry.
Interesting how the default is fast food, instead of walking in and buying two pounds of bananas or a pound of apples, $1 buns and hot dogs for $3 for a healthy, no cook dinner.
Nope, no EBT, gotta blow $20 on pizza. But we got no money for groceries.
Pretty soon they expect it, can't figure out how to live without it, and ultimately attack and eat the keepers or each other.
Good to know. Thanks (:
The food pantry at my church is filled. There seems to be less traffic as the food stamp use grows.
Good advice. I could last a while, plus I live in the country with good neighbors who are quite able to take care of themselves should any shtf scenario happen. We’d help each other out.
I DO believe this is the first leftist revolution built on the premise of not working. To their credit all others glorified sacrifice and work for the homeland.
Meats? I doubt there was much "food" in those carts. Probably just full of Skittles, Twinkies and Colt 45.
Praise Obama! The system’s back up!
“This is a test of the Emergency Broadcast System, please do not adjust your set, this is only a Test”
Don’t forget the AZ iced tea.....
